I am looking at the Masoretic Text of Psalm 22. This is in part due to a lecture I watched last night. It was enlightening and very scholarly in nature.
| My strength became dried out like a potsherd, and my tongue cleaves to my palate; and You set me down in the dust of death. |

טזיָ֘בֵ֚שׁ כַּחֶ֨רֶשׂ | כֹּחִ֗י וּ֖לְשׁוֹנִי מֻדְבָּ֣ק מַלְקוֹחָ֑י וְלַֽעֲפַר־מָ֥וֶת תִּשְׁפְּתֵֽנִי: |
| For dogs have surrounded me; a band of evildoers has encompassed me, like a lion, my hands and feet. |

. What do textual scholars do when the critical scholars believe the majority Masoretic text is defective on syntactic grounds as in the case of Psalm 22:16 (Hebrew 17)? I have read commentaries on the verse and the only ones that really gives a good discussion are Psalms 1-50, Volume 19: Second Edition (19) (Word Biblical Commentary) by Peter C. Craigie & Marvin Tate and The Book of Psalms: A Translation with Commentary by Robert Alter. I read these in addition to NIVAC, NAC, Derek Kidner commentary on Psalms, The Expositor's Bible Commentary and several study Bibles on the verse. Any sources to read are appreciated.
