Multilanguage Sermons

I'm a missionary in Mexico. My user interface language is English, and almost all of my resources are in English.

However, when I write sermons in Spanish, the spell check underlines everything because it is checking the spelling in English. Is there any way to switch the language of a sermon without changing the user interface language?

I am using Logos in a scenario with English and German. Certain things seem to be dependent on the user interface language, e.g. which reference abbreviations are accepted in a Bible, or which language is set for the spell checker. Until now, I haven't learned of a way to do what you are looking for.

Thank you, Wolfgang! Glad to know I'm not the only one frustrated with the lack of multilingual support. I'm sure there are hundreds of users who prefer their system language to be in English while producing sermons and studies within another language. Is there a way to request this as a feature or to upvote a current request for this?

Thats a tough thing to do--even MS Word doesn't do well. Google Docs does better.

In Word you can change the roof language and check it in either language one langauge at a time. Or if you are like me, you do the best you can in your native language and spell check your second langauge very well. Then hope that anyone else reading your document doesn't have perfect English skills.

Really? As a former developer on Word, I have a different perspective.

You can set the proofing language for parts of a document; it doesn't have to be the entire document. And it can certainly be different languages than the UI uses.

That is precisely why I'm so frustrated that this is not already a feature! MS Word does a great job of working with multilingual documents. I can even set the language preferences for different paragraphs or even down to a single word so that the spell checker and editor assistant are using the rules of the set language rather than the default language I've set for my whole system.

Multilingual support for documents in Logos should be a universal, default feature!

Please note, the word processing functionality / text editor used inside of Logos to write notes, sermon text, etc. is rather simple and limited to only a few basic features ... can't be compared to the functionality available in full text editor/word processing software. I am not sure if an external editor software module is used in Logos, or if Logos has programmed its own editor module ... which would also have impact on whether or not and to what degree a multi-lingual proofreading function could be incorporated.

Yes, I agree. MS Word does excellent job with multilingual support. Down to a single word. It even respects it while reading the document for you (if you set the proper language for the given text). I use it all the time. It is the source of my hesitation about using the Logos Sermon Builder for the sermon preparation and delivery. I tried it a few times and like it very much but ended up in using MS Word again. But I still hope that Logos will develop the editing capabilities of the Sermon Builder and I will be able to use it as the main sermon building tool. That would be great.
