1st century Christian hermeneutics

What is a good resource in Logos that transliterates the divide from 1st century Christian hermeneutics to the methods of 21st century hermeneutics? I am looking to see how hermeneutics as a discipline and methodology has changed. I am aware The interpretation of biblical texts served as the foundation for the development of hermeneutics. The word originated with Hermes, the divine messenger. With time, hermeneutics has expanded to include more than only text interpretation. It also discusses how to understand what people do. I am looking to see how it has changed wthin socio-ethnical ramifications.

To add to the list that others have suggested, I'd suggest Nick Needham - especially Volume 1 which will cover the Early Church.

The entire series will allow you to see the flow of doctrinal views through the Church Age which could be beneficial vs just looking at what you can find on the First Century in comparison to today. Many of today's views have been debated, denounced or solidified through the Age.

Make sure you don't 'over-hermeneutic' fellow Logosian words ... on a forum, with no voice stress, or facial expression, Logosian hermeneutics can be easily misinterpreted?

Your question seems way too broad ... like asking about a billion light-years ... it demands over-simplification.

The book that Rick recommends does discuss John, as various herm-methods are discussed. Almost all are descriptive (as they should be). The piece always missing, is why the herm-methods worked. What would possess a pharisee to trudge down to the Jordan to accomodate John the Baptist's argument? Or believe that a miracle worker in Judea would presage the end of time (since there were many miracle workers, and even missing-body burials).

Thanks Rick and MJ. These are very good. I pulled them up and they look like very well recepted. I know the way some can misinterpret words and thoughts. Hopefully it is not that way.
