changing the default font size in books

My daily Bible reading opens with a default font size which is two clicks from the left of the smallest font. I have a number of resources linked to my daily reading for quick reference to commentaries and parallel Bibles. All the linked panels open with a font size which is five clicks from the left of the smallest font. This makes it difficult to quickly check the linked reference concerning a particular verse. It is a pain to have continually open the font adjustment on the linked resource and decrease the size to match my Bible reading panel.

I have tried changing them all manually to the same font size and then saving the layout. But the next time I open the program the different font sizes are back.

There used to be a place in program settings/Text Display where one could choose the percentage size of the default font. But that seems to have disappeared.

How do I adjust the default font size so that all panels always have the same font size?

Content and Program Scaling are under the Accessibility section in Program Settings.

If you are not on the long bar (the default size for a new resource when the click has not been previously changed) in the resource scaling, then altering the content scaling will not impact it, as it will just remain on whichever click you are on. If you are clicked on the long bar and alter the content scaling, then the click will move to the new long bar position. However, if your change to content scaling brings the long bar to your click position, that click will not then track with further changes in content scaling again, it will remain at that position until you specifically change it away and back to the long bar.

Please see image for what I mean by 'long bar'. Its position will change depending on your current scaling settings.

Program scaling just changes everything. Incidentally, whilst you can only choose the percentage options for content scaling that are available in the program settings (corresponding to each click), you can pick an arbitary number for program scaling from 50% to 250% by using the command box and entering set program scaling to 83% etc. Useful for getting default text on the long bar for example to the same size as 100% content/100% program, whilst having smaller gui elements, eg set content to 120% and program to 83%, although make sure all resources are on the long bar as above before adjusting content scaling.

I am sure there are more nuances to this, as sometimes these rules do not seem to work, but I think it for the most part is what happens. Oh and often with program scaling adjustments you can no longer see some of the bars, but they are still there. 2nd oh, the default Logos font can look horrible with lower scaling, and even if you choose a different font such as the Default San Serif which will look nice, the Factbook still uses the default font for Key Articles, so you might want to drag the resource scaler to the right a bit to make it look a little clearer if you do use a lower program/content scaling, but this will depend on your screen resolution, desktop scaling etc so you might not have an issue.

It should only be necessary to change the Bible Reading font to match the linked panels as it appears that all other panels will open at the default of 5 clicks? Otherwise, decrease your Content scaling in Program Settings and then alter the panel setting for the Bible Reading.

The layout should be saved from the Layouts menu:

It needs to be a Named layout.

And then it can be saved and restored via Program Settings:

This will obviate the need to save the layout manually.

That is a very confused nt explanation that makes my head hurt. There ought to be a setting somewhere that chang s to my preferred font size and be able to have it apply to all books. Some try but your explanation is not making any sense to me at all

Agree ... managing font sizes (vs font percents) would be so much easier. And the above discussion simply reflects the app's design-confusion.

Font size is not a good guide with different fonts in use, hence the preference to change the Content Scaling (in Program Settings) whilst also viewing your most used book.

Change the slider setting at the top of the Panel Menu for any book(s) whose font size needs adjusting (usually with books in the original languages).
