Hello Logos team,

My name is Bryce Perez.

I'd like to share an idea I have with Logos Mobile App:

Get an exact word count of every book in Scripture (Genesis-Revelation), from the original languages (Hebrew, Greek, Aramaic)!

Here is my vision of for getting an exact word count of every book in Scripture:

  • Create excellent Scripture reading plans, based on the exact word count data (from original languages), which invite the reader to holistically meditate on the entire Scriptures, time and again, every day (365 days per year) throughout their entire life.

    • 1-year Scripture reading plan (Genesis-Revelation) (365 total days)

    • 2-year Scripture reading plan (Genesis-Revelation) (730 total days)

    • Every three years, a person reads through the entire Scriptures 2 times!

Example 1: If the Torah is 21.22% of the Biblical Story, then 21.22% of the Scripture reading plans will be in the Torah.
Example 2: If the Psalms are 2.12% of the Biblical Story, then 2.12% of the Scripture reading plan is in the Psalms

  • Create visual graphics & data sheets to show how much each group of Scripture contributes to the entire Biblical Story.

    • Bible Wheel Graphic, divided into 7 parts (Torah, Prophets, Writings, Gospels, Acts, Letters, Revelation)

    • Pie Charts, showing how much each Biblical Book contributes to the entire Biblical Story.

Here is my desired fruit (results/outcomes):

  • Endless generations of people who have an organized, clear plan to engage the entire Scriptures every day of their lives 📖

  • Communities are deeply transformed, growing in the image of Christ, as they meditate on the Scriptures with each other every day ♥️

  • Communities are deeply connected with the entire Biblical story (Genesis-Revelation), helping them know the Heavenly Father & His Son Jesus more genuinely ♥️

Next steps:

  • I'd like to talk with the Logos tea more in-depth about this idea I have!

  • I have some actionable steps we can take to make this goal into a reality!

Attached to this post is an example of my current Bible Wheel Graphic (PNG) For clarity, the word count data is NOT CORRECT.

Welcome to the forums. You realize that there is no exact word count except for the count of words in a particular manuscript (or critical edition) ignoring any marked textual variants, I assume. Even then, there would be scholarly debate on how to count some compound words - as one or two words. May I ask why you would prefer the same number of words per day rather than the more common, same number of sentences? If I understand the reasoning, I may be able to show you how to get close to what you are requesting.

Orthodox Bishop Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."; Orthodox proverb: "We know where the Church is, we do not know where it is not."

Hello MJ, thank you for responding to my forum post!

I'd like to get an exact word count of each Book in Scripture (Genesis-Revelation) from the source languages (Hebrew, Greek, Aramaic), primarily for the Scripture reading plans I'd like to make :) I'd like to create Scripture reading plans that Invite people to meditate on the entire Scriptures throughout their entire life :)

Secondly, I'd like to make graphics to display this data, making it available to as many people as possible. I think a lot of people would like to see this data.

It's in the Bible Books Explorer tool. Go to the tool menu and scroll down until you find the Bible Books Explorer.
