We have been so busy on the topic of subscriptions that the forum has missed its biannual, and always belated, discussion of features for the next release. This is my initial cute to provoke discussion.
These are the minimum requirements that Logos/Verbum 11 should meet:
- No results should take more than 2.5 seconds to load.
- The interface should be in my native language with all resources translated (for free) into that language unless I specify "use the original language of the text" in program settings.
- The fonts and background for the display should adjust automatically to the environment and my somewhat variable visual acuity i.e. I shouldn't have to think about it.
- All tagging should be complete including ensuring all parabiblical works, church fathers, and church documents have their own milestone markers and are tagged even in catenas.
- All maps should be zoomable from whole world on my screen down to seeing individual blades of grass. They must also be historically accurate and annotated for past and present misidentifications of locations.
- The context menu must have options for all topics of interest to me - chiasms, type/antitype, liturgical use (current and historical), my choice of linguistic theories rather than Longacre - and it must be simplified so it shows only those options of interest in my current study. I should not have to specify the intent of my current study. AI should infer it from my actions.
- All markings should be available in both visual and textual formats with the appropriate actual locations down to the sememe. This throws out the verse level current limitation of Logos/Verbum everywhere, including Bible references of subverses. Everything in the text should be searchable in an "if I think it, Logos will search it" mode; I should not have to be able to express coherently what I want to see.
- Clause visualizations should be available for all Bibles that serve someone as their primary translations. These should be redesigned in vertical format and be detailed down to the morpheme level. For translations, the interlinears should reflect the precise text used, including following alternative readings, by the translators.
- All resources originally in a Semitic language, Greek, Latin, Coptic, Arabic, Georgian, Sogdian, Armenian, Gothic, Old Church Slavonic ... should have interlinears. All translations should have original language texts.
- The Bible sense lexicon should be expanded to reflect a graph rather than a hierarchy and to include all possible -nym relationships (synonym, antonym, homonym, meronym, patronym, ...)
- A comprehensive bibliography function should be implemented linking all references, bibliography entries, and library resources. The detail entries (usually footnotes) should have errors noted as some references go back so far that their scholarship is now dubious.
- A comprehensive grammar-logic-theology checker should be implemented to ensure that sermons/homilies or lessons built using the sermon/homily builder are safe to use/will not lead anyone astray. This should include auto-correction of grammatical, logical, and theological errors.
- Each individual purchasing Logos/Verbum 11 should be able to specify one feature that is critical to their personal use to be included in the release.
