Shopping Verbum is Fun

Normally, I shop Logos.com. I wanted to shop the ebooks site but forgot where it was. Top secret, and no clearance. You got your Faithlife, Facebook, Twitter, and Utube. But no FL sites (on Logos.com).

Anyway, I landed in Verbum, but it didn't know who I was. Not a problem, just shop anyway!

And I must say, for whatever reason, Verbum has better sale items ... for non-Catholics. I selected 3 and put them in the cart (or so it said). Of course, the cart said zero.

It was fun. And money-saving too.

(After so many years, why are the FL sites unaware of each other. Shopping has never been an FL interest ... if you watch them.)

There was a sale a couple of weeks ago for audiobooks on Logos.com, and I thought to myself that I'd buy them on the Verbum website so that my purchases would fall under their internal metrics as purchases made by a person of Catholic (and Verbum) interests, even if the content I was purchasing was not (it was C.S. Lewis audiobooks).

Lo and behold, they were not available on Verbum.com whatsoever. So, those purchases went to Logos.com and will forever go unrecorded as done by a customer invested in Verbum products.

That's unfortunate. I really don't understand their web-marketing model. I'm opposite you (no offense) but do most of my buying on the Catholic/Orthodox group (for Faithlife). That's where they seem to market the academic(!?). This fall, I'm looking forward to a great Orthodox offering.

It's as if Catholic/Orthodox catches whatever evangelical doesn't like (an exageration).

Just opining, but some of the recent suggestions for Verbum sound quite good (for their business model). I also notice (dummy me) that 'Catholic' makes up a large chunk of the religious market, especially viewed at state and county level. I was surprised, especially in the west.

I will opine with you. [:O] I am regularly surprised by how many Catholic priests I talk to who use Verbum and have recommended Verbum to others. I was totally caught off guard when my preaching professor recommended Verbum (and did an in-class demo) in seminary last semester. I know that a lot of non-Catholic/non-Orthodox might take umbridge with this on the basis of the appearance of more Catholic products on Logos.com compared with other traditions, but (and this is purely anecdotal) it seems to me that the output of Catholic books, either going up on pre-pub or shipping out of pre-pub, does not match the customer base for Catholic products. Again, this is very anecdotal, but I suspect that there is a large contingent of Catholic customers who Logos' marketing is failing to reach. (and this is anecdotally reinforced by my limited observation of few enough Catholics interacting/asking questions on the forum and Feedback site)

Hello everybody. I don't know if it's of interest, but I invite you to also look at packages in other languages, as although they have several books that are not in English, they have several others that are in English. One package I'm keeping an eye on is Verbum academico em Portugues, it brings the Ancora Commentary, Hermeneia, ICC, BNTC, ACCS and other things that can greatly offset the amount to be paid. I'm Brazilian and this package is in my wish list, I just don't know if I'll get it before Jesus returns .
