SUGGESTION: Link footnotes/inline references to Bibliography

Especially in multi-volume works with the bibliography in only one of the volumes it can be difficult to translate a short inline reference or footnote reference to an actual work. Please link the references to the bibliography. Example: Culpepper ("Pivot") in Von Wahlde, Urban C. The Gospel and Letters of John: Commentary on the Gospel of John. Vol. 2. The Eerdmans Critical Commentary. Grand Rapids, MI; Cambridge, U.K.: William B. Eerdmans Publishing Company, 2010. requires that you go to volume 1 (of 3) to a bibliography divided into categories so one must run a search rather than simply look for the entry in alphabetical order.

Short version: click on footnote or inline reference to go to the bibliography entry. This should not interfere with the link to the actual work, if in your library.

It would be amazing, and I've voted for it. But I think it's pie in the sky. I'd rather they do the work to bring the rest of their vast catalogue up to the standard of having all mentions of other books that we have in our library work as links to them (which I also think is probably never going to happen in our lifetimes, because the problem gets bigger the more books they add). Then they can work on frosting on the cake such as this request.

If they could automate this all using AI, that might help them do it, but there would inevitably be cases that the AI screws up, which would make for more frustrations and bug reporting needed by us.

I see this as a doable first step to that. No, I am not forgetting collections of essays with each having its own bibliography but given the rules for footnotes and inline references, there should be only one candidate for a match within a book. So standard language processing should be able to provide fairly accurate results. Once the detailed references are linked to the full bibliographic data, it should be easier to add links to items in the Logos catalogue. Most of the "is this the same reference" work will already be done.
