I have a large number of Logos notes. Do you recommend that I get a MacBook Pro? If so, with what chip?

Are you seeing performance issues with your current system?
If so, it would be worth exploring that in more detail.
My present computer is 6 years old. Opening Logos is very slow. It's definitely time to update my computer.
Judging from your posts, you're an early Mac/Logos Logosian.
So, just reporting my experience (Graham's request for yours would help):
- I'm on an MBP Pro with an M1 chip; latest macOS
- Opening is maybe 2 secs at most; opening a 150 resource complex layout is about 4-5 secs
- Slowness shows up in highlighting (no note books used)
- Initial right-click use takes a couple of secs to populate
Else quite amazing.

First, I would recommend that you look here first: https://buyersguide.macrumors.com/#mac
Second, I don't think that you need a "pro" for Logos. Assuming you are only looking at a laptop, I would recommend a MacBook Air. It would be better to put money towards a larger SSD and extra ram if money isn't an issue. I have a 15 inch, M2 with 512 GB SSD and 8 GB ram. I have no complaints but would have considered doubling the ram if I had the money at the time.
Third, if you are dead set on a Pro, I'd wait for the next update. The M4 is supposed to be optimized for AI.
I just bought MBP 16 inch [named Suite 16] black 512 16GB M3Pro through Costco $250 off. Max is much more. If you wish to take the plunge, do your research - now may be best time for a long time - IF your budget allows. (Decided to replace 15" Intel chip MBP).
Also I bought Amazon carrying case with pockets, so consider this too.
Study to show yourself approved..... If not for Logos, I'd have NO need for such spendy device ! ! ! If you have only one talent, don't bury it! Make it earn ROI !!
When you decide whether you want an Air or a Pro, be sure to check out the Apple refurbished store. You save quite a bit of money and still get the warranty from Apple. With the savings, you might be able to increase your storage or RAM from purchasing direct.
The downside is the refurb store takes time to get the latest hardware releases. When they do, you only have the configuration they offer (no customization) and they go quickly.

I just timed Logos startup after it has been shut down out of memory for a few hours with work in multiple other applications. I got a time of 11.37 seconds on an iMac with M3 chip. That was with 3-4 apps in memory. I also have 16GB of RAM.
I have a MacBook Pro, 2019, with 2.3 Ghz 8 core Intel Core i9. That's my "home" computer. My church computer is a MacBook Air with M2 chip. The difference is incredible. Logos is amazing on it. I highly recommend an Air with the M2 or M3 chip. You'll be very happy.
Got a Mac Book Pro M2 with 16 Ram and 1TB Dirve. I actually indexed 19,400 resources in about 25 minutes.
I have no regrets and it is extremely fast.
Some of your decision will involve what other uses (programs) you are using. Logos will run well on any of the M series chips. The screen might be important (as it was for me), in which case you would need to go with a Pro laptop. I overspec'ed with an M3 Pro Max, 36g memory and have not regretted the purchase. I wanted to future-proof for several years and I was anticipating AI incorporation into the OS. Go with the best machine that your budget and you will have no second-guessing after the purchase.

I went from an M1 MacBook Air with 16 GB and 1TB HD, which I gave to my wife, to a MacBook 14" M1 Pro with 16GB and 1TB HD. I run Logos, Verbum, Word, and a few other apps. I noticed no change in performance when switching to the M1 Pro. However, I found that I missed the lighter weight of the MacBook Air, as I am always on the move. So now I have traded in my MacBook Pro for a M3 MacBook Air with 24 GB and 1 TB HD.
