You will need to answer JT's questions for more clarification but I can help with part.
To make a list of verses, click the documents icon, go to New, and select Passage List.
If it is still indexing this is usual. If it is a new installation, wait for it to finish or pause the indexing for 4 hours. The blue circle with a number in it on the tool bar shows the status of indexing (among other things) and allows you to pause indexing.
