Saw this yesterday on the interview and never heard of it before... I'm half hermeneutically suspect and half "there are no coincidences"

I've read of hidden treasures such as this in the Bible but had not seen Genesis 5 laid out like that before. I believe that the Bible is God breathed, and I also believe in the sovereignty of God in every area of His creation. If He chose to weave more into His inspired word than meets the eye, He most surely could. I haven't gone back and studied the root words yet (I plan to), but if it's as they laid it out in that article, that's no coincidence in my opinion.

Well, erh, I thought Adam meant earth ...[;)] My personal hermeneutics for things like this is that the is great value in the study put forth to discover this pattern ... less value in having it handed to you on a silver platter. But, then, I highly value anything that forces you to have a close reading of the text.

this was addressed in a forum years ago and basically calls it into serious doubt. The translation of the individual words in the way suggested requires a lot of latitude [^o)]
