Logos Won't Sync on my Laptop
I'm not sure how long it's had the problem... I normally keep the menu panel on the left side of the screen collapsed, so the sync status doesn't show.
I'll attempt to attach zipped log folder (haven't done it before). If that works, I'd appreciate thoughts regarding the problem from anyone who knows how to read the log file.
NOTE: I've been going through MPS Camp Logos, so doing a lot of things I don't normally do as I've been going through that course, so perhaps a connection there?

The logfile contains:
2024-08-01 10:49:26.1903 WARN 28 SyncV3Client | Found 2 download error item IDs (shouldRetryErrors=True): workflow/1594741/uistate,workflow/1594742/uistate
2024-08-01 10:49:26.2735 ERROR 20 SqliteWorkflowsClientRepository | Failed to find or create workflow record with sync integration for 'workflow/1594741/uistate'.
2024-08-01 10:49:26.2746 ERROR 20 SqliteWorkflowsClientRepository | Failed to find or create workflow record with sync integration for 'workflow/1594742/uistate'.which indicates there was a problem syncing a couple of items in a workflow.
Have you started a new workflow / updated an old one recently?

Yes... as part of the Camp Logos training. That was my first use of a workflow. Went through exercises using the Logos provided workflows as well as a custom workflow. I thought it might be related to something in the Camp Logos training. I suppose I could try deleting all the workflows.Graham Criddle said:Have you started a new workflow / updated an old one recently?

That sounds like a good plan - unless they are particularly important to you.

I deleted all the workflows I had created. Logos still didn't sync, so I deleted a couple of workflow related layouts. Logos still doesn't sync. So I created another set of logs to see if they provide a clue.

I was out of town when initialing posting this thread. I got back into town last night and checked a second laptop I have. That one is syncing fine but the one I was using when out of town is still showing a syncing error.
A new/clean set of logs is included below. If anyone has a suggestion regarding the problem your input would be appreciated.

I think you are having the same or a related issue as before. I see the following in your logs:
2024-08-05 09:40:03.0732 WARN 11 SyncV3Client | Found 2 download error item IDs (shouldRetryErrors=True): workflow/1594741/uistate,workflow/1594742/uistate

Were you using the same internet connection on both devices? Do you have any VPN or virus blockers, etc. on the troublesome device?

Thank you for taking a look JT. Same internet connection on both devices now. No VPN. The only antivirus app is Windows built-in MS Defender.
I was on a different internet connection when traveling (a private connection at a relative's cabin), but wasn't sure I'd had the problem at home with either my travel laptop or home laptop. So when I got home, I checked and verified the sync problem is still happening at home with my travel laptop, but isn't occurring at home on my home laptop.
I'm not sure which workflow Logos is having trouble with. To my knowledge, I deleted all the work flows and workflow related layouts I created when going through Camp Logos for Logos 10. At least I don't see any custom workflows--just the standard ones I understand Logos provides--a total of 27.
Before knowing what the problem was I rebuilt the index as that's a simple thing to try. No joy there. I wonder if there's a corrupted Logos workflow file or folder involved that I could copy from my home laptop to my travel laptop. Otherwise, try a reinstall on my travel laptop?
Again, thanks for taking a look!

That would only help if the issue was with a downloaded book, I think. Instead, it may be a corrupted db file, but I am not the right person to advise.

That is the nuclear option, and it may work. However, it would require that you delete EVERYTHING... just deleting the app isn't sufficient (at least not on Mac).
On the other hand... If your concern is merely about the warning, it may not be something you need to worry about. Have you tried seeing if other things sync?

Good call. On blank layouts I had been checking to see if resource updates (notes, highlights, reading location) were carrying over from one laptop to the other on a specific resource, and they seemed to be, but I hadn't played with different layouts.
My startup program setting option is set to "Most recent layout - any", so what I end with on one laptop should be what I start with on the other. But it's somewhat mucked up whether going from my travel machine to my home machine or the other way around.
Specifically, when changing layouts on one machine, then switching to the other, on startup, the other machine displays the new layout name, but the layout itself hasn't changed--it's still the old layout. Selecting the new layout name from the layout pop-up menu, does correctly bring up the new layout, but layout syncing between machines is not working. I then tried moving from one machine to the other while keeping the same layout, but just navigating to different locations in some resources. The correct layout came up on the other machine, but the resource locations had not changed.
I might contact support, but I might first try uninstalling and reinstalling on the travel machine that's showing the sync error. But who knows... since there is a sync error and the travel machine is the one showing a sync error, maybe the problem is actually with the home machine. [:(]

Thanks, JT. I used to be very consistent in running the update layout command every time just before closing Logos. I got out of that habit when going through Camp Logos training this past month and have to acknowledge I wasn't doing that during the testing from my last post. I have company all day today, but will see if getting back to that "best practice" solves the layout issue. Hopefully, that's all it is in regard to the layouts not syncing.

I think I have the sync error on my travel laptop resolved, and I hope I did it without causing other problems that I don't see now but may encounter as "gotchas" later on.
Since the problem seemed to revolve around workflows (thank you Graham and JT), and persisted even after deleting all the workflows I created along with layouts that used them, I decided to try replacing the two main Logos Workflows folders and related files on the laptop getting sync errors, with the Workflows folders and files from the laptop not getting sync errors--even though all the file dates and sizes were identical on both machines.
I renamed the folders on the travel machine then pasted in copies of the folders from my home machine. The travel machine no longer has sync errors, and so far, it seems to be working properly in all other regards. Nor have I seen any impact on my home machine so far.
I'll post an update if I get bit by any "Gotchas" down the road.

The usual strategy is to delete the \Workflows folder and let Logos rebuild it.

That would have been the easier way! I'll tuck that tidbit away for future reference.Dave Hooton said:Rick Ausdahl said:I renamed the folders on the travel machine then pasted in copies of the folders from my home machine.
