Experimenting with the new AI Help Center

I began experimenting with the new AI Help Center in Logos. It looks interesting but...

When I type in a question, the results are full of responses from resources that I don't own, with a strong emphasis on videos. They have a little lock symbol next to them, and if I mouse over the lock symbol it says, "This book isn't licensed".

I don't want ANY results from resources that I don't own, whether it be books or videos. That's useless to me. I don't want to scroll through results I can't use, and it's really quite a LOT of them (like around 50% of the results).

I probably also don't want results from videos in general, even if I own them. Is there a way to tweak the output so that it's more useful to me?

Not yet. But we do plan to ensure that everyone will be able to access all the content in Help Center even if they don't have a license to it.

Oh! I see. I think that makes the All Search the true main interface for interacting with the AI, at least as far as asking it a question.

Sadly, it still heavily prioritizes resources I don't own (like 80% or so, and I own a LOT of resources), but at least it's not throwing so many video-based results at me.

If you run the Books Search in Smart mode (there is a toggle between Precise and Smart) towards the top right of the panel you get similar results but only for books you own.

I hope one day the default search becomes "My Library," which is essentially what the "books" search is (though it is not the default search). I find the title "books" to be both inaccurate and misleading. The way the titles are now, one might naturally think that a "books" search will search only through your books, while the "all" search would include things like magazines, journals, notes, etc. A title like "My Library" would differentiate it from "all" in an understandable manner.

That's a fair perspective, though "All" is the first (farthest left) option and will show up for new users by default the first time. This makes it the default search. True, it is very easy to change this default, but many new users have expressed confusion at initial results showing a large majority of books that they do not own.

This, however, is not necessarily intuitive. There is nothing in the title "books" that differentiates it from "all" in a way that would communicate that the only difference is that "all" includes results from the entire Logos catalog while "books" includes only results from your library. If Logos is trying to make their UI more intuitive for new users, I'm identifying this as an area that could use some work.

I hear you 100%. While I hold the opinion that my suggestion would make things more intuitive, that certainly doesn't mean it would be "better" for everyone. I respect your preference here and greatly appreciate your general willingness to share your expertise with others on the forums.

ALL doesn't search everything in Logos, but ALL was designated as the default for new users because there are no toolbar options, for example, to limit the range of books and range of references being searched. Its Search box allows advanced syntax for power users, but the lack of control over its output format is limiting.

Books is my default. It used to be called Basic! "My Library" is too suggestive of Library which is used to "Find books" via their metadata rather than search their content. COED (Concise Oxford English Dictionary) defines a library as a collection of Books!

I would think that intuitively, people would recognize "My Library" in this instance as searching through the resources in their Logos library, which includes more than just books. I suppose I am not sure what exactly the "All" search searches. If it doesn't search through the entire Logos catalog, what is it searching through? I think it would be nice if there were an option to toggle on and off the displaying of unowned resources, without having to switch to a "Books" search.
