BUG: Odd search results

Orthodox Bishop Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."; Orthodox proverb: "We know where the Church is, we do not know where it is not."

The results are correct as Basic Search looks in footnotes as with 58 in the NAC.
To avoid this change All Text to Surface Text (I get zero results!).
EDIT: I should remember my own earlier finding that in Basic Search NEAR will search in
footnotes whilst WITHIN does not! But there's still some results that need explaining eg. WITHIN 10 words finds the same result in RSB as NEAR.Dave

Ah, I didn't see any footnote indicators ... hadn't tried the mouse over.

It's still kind of odd. The Image of God footnote contains a mention of Col 3:10 which is within your verse range, but The Christian Family mentions Col 3:18-21 which does not overlap your range.

The Image of God "footnote" contains the Colossians reference term whilst The Christian Family contains "structure", the other search term.

OK, totally understandable now. But what an odd example of what search will return sometimes!

It's not treated as a footnote (eg. NAC 58) as both WITHIN and NEAR return that result.
But I wonder why NEAR does not return the more obvious NAC result below because the separation is 8 words!?

I've heard back from development on this question. "NEAR" is closer to "WITHIN 48 characters" than "WITHIN 10 words" so you may see different results. In your "WITHIN 10 words" example above, there are more than 48 characters between "(3:1)" and "structure."

Ouch! Get out your tape measure because NEAR implies within about 4.8 inches or 12 cm[:P]
EDIT: I've amended Search Help to read:-
NEAR has an inbuilt proximity filter which is roughly 8-10 words. Use
WITHIN for more consistent results.Dave

That would only be true if you were using a very small font (10 characters per inch, about 7 points). [:)]
