Next Version Coming Very Soon?

In light of the fact that MP Seminars is doing a new Camp Logos in about three weeks (September 10-12), does that mean the next "version" of Logos will be released before then? By next version, I am expecting the full, public release of the new subscription model to all Logos users. My calculation is based on the history of MP Seminars conducting a Camp Logos shortly after the release of each new full-point version, usually in December following the October release. I don't know of any other reason to have another Camp Logos so soon after Camp Logos 2 just a few months ago.

Since the final Logos 10 sale ends the first week in September, I think this is a good bet.Neal Cook said:In light of the fact that MP Seminars is doing a new Camp Logos in about three weeks (September 10-12), does that mean the next "version" of Logos will be released before then? They said in the fall, so my guess is the new subscription based version will release on Monday, September 23rd, 2024.

It is a big mystery. Remember, earlier releases that had a lengthy list of new features. Like Christmas morning. If early Sept rollout, the bw-switch, and the angry-birds drop-down menu? They need more time for something so unbelievably good, subscribing will overwhelm the Faithlife servers. Credit card processing in the Pacific Northwest will come to a standstill. Bob will wish he never retired.

Also the beta software testing Release Candidate (RC) was just recently dropped, that usually indicates a development team are working toward finalising the code for implementation.

Does the Early Access pricing for L10 full feature owners end at rollout, or will it continue after the release?

Mark said it will continue and there will be plenty of notice before it ends.

This is on the standard 6 week development cycle rather than a "surprise" major change. It does not include the new resource dynamic toolbar which is being tested in multiple beta cycles.

Thanks for the info. I'm softening to the idea of a subscription model, but would like to see how things go before committing. I'd like to see if there are offline features at rollout that have not been revealed that will add value to a legacy fallback license.

I will speculate that Logos 11 will have the new resource toolbar as part of its splash. If so and it is not ready for the current release cycle, then it might be at least another six week cycle beyond that.
However, if there is a secret beta test group, maybe Logos will break its newly established cycle to roll out Logos 11 with this and other elements on a date that surprises us all. 😜

I'm surprised people are still referring to Logos 11 as if the new Subscription attracted the "Private/secret beta testing" of Logos 10 and prior major releases.

I will anticipate that the new Subscription will include the new resource toolbar, but it could mean an early-October release date!

What you very effectively did was highlight a poor attempt at humour. Well played! The remark was supposed to be 'tongue in cheek'. If we could get a moderator to delete it now while I stick to being boring. 😕 LOL!

I totally agree. I don't know what other eye candy and bells and whistles Logos might have in its next launch, but I would guess because the new tool bar is such a high profile and visual central feature, it would make sense that it is one of the USPs of v.11 or whatever they call it. According to @Mark, there was a meeting yesterday of which some of the in-line search feedback was going to be on the agenda. I would guess they are filtering through which feedback they are taking on board, and then prioritising with a view of what can be ready at launch time.
This would obviously happen with any of the 'six week' releases in the new cycle, but the launch of this new era will be particularly important, alongside the appropriate marketing messaging, sales configurations, help documentation, etc. There is a lot of a change management behind this release. I read somewhere that there will only be newly configured standard library packages on this release, with tradition packages in Q1 2025. This is probably a smart move to focus on transitioning the customer base to main elements of the model, then add more later.
Interesting days...

For sure! If we can seed enough speculation, we might be able to launch the Logos equivalent of the Mac Rumours website!

I don't think September is the month; it will hold at October as it has in the past. My main reason for this guess:
In the release notes for the 36.3 beta, this statement was made: "The Dynamic Toolbar will not ship to stable in v36, it will remain in beta throughout the v37 cycle."
It seems to me that the next big version (whatever it is called) will have the Dynamic toolbar. 36 might come out stable this week, then add another 6-ish weeks for 37 to beta test and that puts us in October.

With the renaming of 'Home Page' to 'Dashboard' in v. 36, it makes me wonder if Logos 11 will have a new approach to this space. This function has not changed in some time. Maybe styled like Factbook and some new options for Liturgically based traditions?

It's possible. It would be nice to see improvements here eventually. The possibilities are endless (perhaps not a good thing when it comes to making decisions). As far as I know, however, the most pressing need for the name change is the dynamic toolbar. The first and primary tab is called "Home."

A question is, will v 37 only include the new dynamic resource toolbar, or will it have some surprise elements as part of the launch of subscriptions?

v 37 will never be released because:

b) Putin pushes the nuclear button
c) Mahatma Gandhi is reincarnated
d) there is a worldwide power grid destruction
e) all of the above

FL will release an AI smart speaker that seamlessly links with your Logos account, capable of answering complex theological questions, giving timely reminders, and even performing actions within the Logos software such as opening resources, executing searches, and saving favorites in the now-prominent favorites sidebar. Additionally, a subscription-based service will be released after gathering sufficient feedback from users that will include several enhanced features.

As I understand it, ALL new features currently go through the Beta testing process.
If it has not been in any of the beta releases then I would find it very unlikely to simply be sprung on us as a surprise feature.
It doesn't mean that they can't do that, just that I find it very unlikely.

This may not be far-fetched... Could an Amazon Alexa Skill be built to access some of the Logos data....It would be cool to have a Smart Speaker remind you of Reading Plans, etc without having to set it up in the calendar or as a reminder yourself.

I missed that - but I don't use Alexa myself - don't remember the last time the Echo we received free with another purchase was even powered on.
