If I link Factbook to my bible and then open the commentary section it populates by book. If I choose by type it sorts by type, When I change verses in the bible it goes back to sorting by book. Please have this remember my selection for each layout.

IMO this is a really great update. Very well done. I didn't think I would get excited about frequent updates vs purchasing every two years. But I'm realizing I was wrong. Unexpectedly, I do find it exciting. A minor (probably not entirely avoidable) disadvantage with the path forward is that each release will likely feel like a more refined beta period for the first couple weeks or so as additional bugs get sorted out. This is to be expected, since under the previous model there was significantly more time to discover and fix all those annoying bugs that love to attach themselves to software.

True. These current times are probably quite difficult for Logos developers in some ways, because they're trying to impress with a big "Logos 11" upcoming release date while working towards the future 6wk cycle. I'm sure things will settle down soon and there will be ample time to test features, big and small, before releasing them as a stable version. Small updates will likely be released quicker, while larger updates may require multiple cycles of beta testing to allow ample time for refinement. Transitions are always difficult.

I think as well, when you roll a major software release out, a lot of things compete initially for attention and so things have to wait a long time before refinement is added to some features.

A good example of this is the new dynamic resource toolbar. Because we have been able to test it on the web app, and now the beta app, we are able to give input which allows them to get it mostly right before it is delivered in a stable version. The alternative would be to wait until Logos 11, whatever they call it, and then we are mildly shocked or surprised in how close they got it to something users were ready for.

Obviously every approach has its pluses and minuses... 🤷‍♂️

The 6 week cycle has been with us for several years (now with one week rest). The difference has been that new features were released from Logos v32 for Logos Pro/Early Access users as the basis for the new Subscription system (aka "Logos 11"). And the new/improved features continue from there, every 7 weeks. You will be more excited as a subscriber, but the non-subscriber continues to have improvements/bug fixes and updates that keep them current with OS releases.

True, but this has been the case for some time. Subscribers will refine the new features, but it is better to be involved in the Beta testing.

The previous model was a concentrated 3-4 month Private Beta with commercial pressure to release by a set date (and not reveal the new UI in screenshots!). . Bugs and features took several months to fix/complete following the release.

Thanks, Dave, for elaborating on my statements. Last week was my first week participating in beta testing. Obviously the closer one is to the release date, the more bugs one will encounter. I didn't buy the Logos 10 full feature set until well after it was released. With the new subscription model, there will be a lot more users immediately exposed to all bugs that are currently present after a release. I'm not saying this is a bad thing. But it might put more pressure on the team immediately following a release than was the case under the previous model, where users trickled in as they upgraded.

Again, I appreciate you sharing your knowledge and experience as one who has been involved in the betterment of Logos for so long.

I wondered this as well. I was a Logos Now subscriber in the first week that it was offered, and then I watched it's demise slip into the debacle that turned out to be Faithlife Essentials (no library).

My theory of what is different is that Logos has removed a lot from their company portfolio and have gone back to their primary business. I recall on these forums some of us expressed concerns about how many things Logos was diversifying into, when core things in the Bible software needed bad attention.

But you are correct, if they are charging me a rolling subscription indefinitely and it is much as it was before, this will not be a great development.

It's a matter of priority. It is a priority now, whereas it wasn't before. It will not be difficult for them to sustain roll outs every 6 weeks, but it would be unrealistic to expect these roll outs to be flashy and exciting every time. Many releases will likely include little more than small adjustments and bug fixes. I have little doubt that many of the flashy and exciting features being released now and in the near future are tied to the upcoming "Logos 11" release. Once they have that behind them, they'll probably be playing catch up, fixing bugs and fine tuning all of the new features.

Sorry. Mere speculation, but let me try again. I am saying we're currently in a phase of exciting releases. At least, it feels that way to me. I anticipate version 37 to be exciting as well when it releases in 6 weeks ("near future"), at least for me. I think the reason for these exciting releases is because they want to have a fun and successful official launch of the "Logos 11" subscription model in October. I am saying that after they have released these features and completed the launch they will likely have their plates full with bug fixes and tweaks to all these new features. I don't anticipate any big, surprising new feature releases until at least early next year for that reason. Don't get me wrong, I don't even want "exciting" releases all the time. I much prefer a smooth, quick, stable software program to an "exciting" glitchy one. I WANT them to prioritize small adjustments and bug fixes.

My expectations are that the re-envisioning of Factbook and the simplification/updating of the user interface will continue far beyond the fall release of new libraries. I expect the fall release to be libraries only with the features development continuing has it has since the development moved out of the bug-killing backlog phase.

One may wonder, how many release quality and functioning new features are there that can satisfy the term "new (as in 'not existed before') feature" to be made available in a 6 weeks cycle? The Logos App seems to be quite feature packed as it currently is ...

Some of the releases will be improvements of existing features. For example, we have another thread going on the Text Comparison Tool. https://community.logos.com/forums/p/224904/1312589.aspx#1312589 I don't remember the last time there was any real enhancement of this tool. Let's also consider other pain points. (i.e. tag management and prioritisation)

So I am hopeful we will see continuous improvement of 'smaller things'. Some of it won't be as dramatic, but it will be things that would have never probably featured as a USP of a major release every two years.

Subscribers will receive new features right away as they are released in the stable version according to the 6 week update schedule. But not every update will include an entirely new feature. However, it is realistic to expect that every update will include significant improvements to the software as a whole, including enhancements to already-existing features.

Non subscribers will also receive updates every 6 weeks. However, while subscribers will receive all the benefits of these updates, the benefits that non subscribers will receive will be limited to bug fixes and the like.

God hear you (and all of us), Palmer! I was just thinking about that today, but in the opposite direction. My concern is that this pressure caused by the commitment imposed by the subscription will be even stronger than with the model of releases every 2 years. I explain:

the temptation for the team now may be to focus even more on major new features than on improvements and refinements to what already exists. Because they will feel (possibly, and need to handle wisely) the pressure to have “more impactful” enhancements rather than smaller improvements to existing tools and functionalities.

Let's face it, many of us users will be demanding that, with the subscription, there are bigger new features (which is a good thing), rather than improvements to the good things that Logos already has and which have been left in limbo after the launches every two years. I very much hope that the team can strike a balance between the two. I see that Logos already has a lot. More than most (if not all) of us can actually remember, let alone have the time to use it all.
(I've been using Logos since 2013, and before that with Libronix, and I already consider myself much more of an intermediate Logos user).

So I expect more significant refinements rather than more and more features that get forgotten and unused. Let the “impact news” be what you can say, “how did I miss that until today”? And that the refinements are so good that they leave me with the feeling that there is something “new” in what is old.

When features are bought once every 2 years, there is so much new information to absorb but not enough time to absorb the new information. So we don't fully benefit from the feature set we buy. God knows that I am not even aware of many of the features of the L10 feature set. But when features are released every 6/7 weeks, the time commitment needed to stay on top of the feature set is not that massive and, therefore, we get to understand how the features work and get to reap the full functionality of the feature set.

Through a number of Logos 10 Videos on Youtube, I have found a greater use for Factbook, something this 70 yr old didn't quite understand. I have subscribed, early, to the Premier, so, I look forward to any additional changes that come in September. I would love to see the ability to change from the "blue" to another color in the future. I had no problems updating my Desktop or Mobile App on the iPhone and iPad. I would invite everyone to take advantage of the Free Webinars that are currently available and the ones that should arrive once the new Subscription Model roles out. They are very helpful and the Instructors very knowledgeable.

There does appear to be a problem with content you own in book form in getting it into Logos as you can clearly see from my screenshot. It shows that it has been added to my Library, however, it will not allow me to view the contents on the Desktop App. It won't let me add the screenshot, but, it gives me the option of removing the resource from my Library. Right now, with this one issue, which was not a problem before I switched over to Premier Subscription, well, I consider this a BUG. Great point, and you're not the only one. Many times I've found out from other users' questions on the forums about a feature I had all along but was unaware of. With the current release schedule, it's much easier to keep up and get accustomed to features as they are released.

I second this suggestion. I've learnt a lot from the free webinars, even for tools and features I use frequently.

Would you please clarify what you mean by "content you own in book form".

If you are trying to use the Print Library feature where you can have Logos search a book you own IN PRINT but do not have a LOGOS VERSION, then all you can do is have search results displayed (usually telling you the page number you can find the results on in YOUR PRINT BOOK).

What you cannot do is read that PRINT BOOK in Logos without buying the Logos version first.

I have to say that as someone who enjoys the massive feature drop we have been used to - the view that you both state should be part of the marketing plan. I know some that were never sure of upgrades due to the volume of learning that could be tied to them.
