Examining what my shortcuts actually are

I don't use shortcuts much, but I have a few that don't do anything. (They could've been layouts I deleted after I created the shortcuts.) Is there any way to uncover what a shortcut actually IS (book, layout, setting, etc.), not just the label or icon?

I had that problem, when I deleted an icon by mistake. The popup had the command I needed.

But I guessing that's not the solution.  But true. An icon whose layout lost his thumbnail (no recent use), is orphaned.
