Any computer you buy now should have an SSD as its main storage, otherwise you're buying a very slow dinosaur.
Intel or AMD is not as much an issue as it was years ago, either will work for you. If going for intel go with an i5/i7/i9 to add to longevity to your desktop, have it figure i3 is the slowest/ i9 is fastest and will last many technology upgrades over time. As mentioned everything is SSD for hard drive. The more memory you can afford the better, that just speeds up things depending on the number of apps you have open. If you generally run a couple apps at a time 8gb will work, if you want to plan for the future go with 16/32gb. If you are not building your computer go with the video card you have, unless you plan to run multiple monitors. I personally have 4 monitors and love to be able to put Verbum across 3 screens to allow me to spread things out as I would if I would using books. But if you are going with one monitor, I would recommend either a 29 or 34 inch ultra wide (curved if you can). It allows more on the screen than a standard monitor.
See Logos' own system recommendations:

Just make sure each component meets or exceeds these and you will be great.

Be VERY careful in choosing an Intel processor. There are major problems which are still unresolved.
There is no fix for Intel’s crashing 13th and 14th Gen CPUs — any damage is permanent

Given the problems with recent Intel chips and the lack of Logos support for the new Windows on ARM operating system ... I would recommend you go with an iMac.
Be VERY careful in choosing an Intel processor.
Spoken like a true Mac afficiado ... I'll stay with PC's thankyou ...the problematic period of transition is likely short.

The article is a few months old. Intel has issues a fix (microkernel software update). AMD processors are also very good and were never affected by this issue.

I'm typing this on a PC [H]
My advice was based upon the processor, not the OS. Apple silicon works and is reliable. Right now Intel is not reliable and it would be foolish to buy one of these systems, especially considering that the "fix" does not really make the processor run the way it was designed to run. There is no transition to normal with the affected processors, except to upgrade to a later processor that does not have the problem.
But ... if a person insists on running Logos on Windows, on a desktop machine as the OP said he wants, then the best move right now would be to buy an older Intel processor (which also would be much cheaper), or sort out the different AMD chips. AMD has also had problems recently, but I am not well informed on those issues.
The fix did not fix it. There is a video that describes what the patch does ... it basically reduces voltage while increasing wattage, which causes overheating and throttling. If you bought a lemon, this patch will extend the life of the processor (if you do not already have damage). But these processors will never run as they were intended too, and it would be foolish to buy one, knowing they are irreparably defective.
AMD also has had problems recently, but could be a good solution. If you had read both of the pages I linked to, you would have seen mention of AMDs recent problems.
I'm not wanting to start a Chevy vs Ford debate. Just trying to prevent anyone from buying a lemon. And what Intel is selling right now is lemons [H]
I think most modern computers will run it reasonably well. The fact that you're asking about computer specs means you're not going to buy the cheapest computer at Walmart. The laptop in my home office is from 2015 and the one I use while sitting on my couch is from 2018. Neither one is fast, but they're both adequate. Take into consideration the number of resources you have; I have a few thousand in Logos.
I would strongly recommend a big screen, or multiple screens. Being able to move between multiple resources just by using your eyes and not the mouse may seem to be a small benefit, but it really makes working in Logos (and other programs) easier. Also, a monitor is likely to last longer than a computer, so I'd recommend buying a high quality one (or two or three). 90+ percent of computer interaction is through the monitor, so make it a good experience. This is especially important if you're prone to eye strain or headaches.
(I've been working on a project where I'm writing computer code (and have several files open) but I'm frequently referring to two Excel spreadsheets, two PDF files and Notepad++. Í also have Windows Explorer, a music player, web browser and Copilot AI open. Having all of them open at the same time across three screens is a big time-saver.)
I'm not wanting to start a Chevy vs Ford debate.
Agreed and so I won't continue this non-Logos discussion, but vague statements about AMD having problems (which are marketing related related to the new launch) and a misstated summary about the technical nature of the actual fix does not help anyone. A more up to date and complete article on the issues can be found here:

Its hilarious that you are trying to refute me by posting the exact same link that I did [;)]
It's true that an AMD processor is as good as (or better than) an Intel at present, but be aware of the on-board graphics card as well.
This year I bought a computer wtih an AMD processor, without realizing the motherboard had AMD graphics (as well as an nVidia card). I've stuggled with many versions of the AMD Raedon graphics dirvers, and ended up disabling the AMD graphics card (in Windows and in the BIOS). That's reduced my Windows BSODs (Blue Screen of Death) to only about once a week. I believe the problem is Dell's (not AMD's), but be careful.
As others said, SSD is essential to performance in Logos. A fast nVidia card will help with indexing too.

Thanks for all the comments/ideas. Found what I thought was a good deal online.
My biggest gripe was/is Logos locking up. I think I have so many filters going at the same time with so many books open that it may be causing a problem.l Hopefully, RAM and video card will help. luckily, looking at my history helps me remember what I had opened up at the time of the lock up. We will see.
I'm a thinking about a new computer myself. One thing, I think is going to change computers is the encryption of A.I. into them. I know NVIDIA is making new chips and how they will be incorporated into PCs is not worked out yet (I think). But I don't think it's going to be long in the tooth for them to work it out.
But I do see a big change coming for computers... and with that thought, I'm a waiting. [8-|]
I couldn't agree more with this statement! I had a DELL computer and even though it had 1TB of space it was a Hard drive and it was slow; especially during indexing! What a nightmare that was!
Buy, if you can afford it, a MacBook Pro 1TB SSD and you will be surprise at how your layouts and resources just "Teleport" in a blink of an eye!

I was just wondering if anyone has noticed that with the demise of Windows 10 in 2025, Logos hardware recommended for smooth operation is becoming very expensive. Will Logos support what will be backwards technology or will they abandon computers like they did with Windows 8?
