My Dad (born 1912) used to complain that the use of calculators had produced a generation of working teenagers who had no sense of whether or not the results were reasonable. It seems to me that we are facing a larger version of the problem with the new generative AI toys - ChatGPT, Co-pilot, Gemini, Perplexity ... Which means that we need to add an additional goal to studying scripture - how to recognize when your tools provide inaccurate or highly biased results.
Unfortunately, I'm too apt to go to methods that are heavy on logic and tools rather than pragmatic solutions that people will actually use -- I'm thinking primarily of high-school and college students who are apt to be using the technology. Have any of you considered what changes to make in your young adult groups or faith formation/sacramental preparation for this age group?
