Logos not saving my reading progress
Admittedly I am not a fluent logos user. I have had it and used it for more than a year, but I have had much trouble figuring out how it works. I don't have a lot of time to watch tutorials and although I've tried to find answers by watching tutorials and reading articles, the cost to benefit ratio has not been favorable.
I'm struggling this morning because I'm noticing that such a basic necessary function as saving reading progress from one session to the next (desktop version) is not working. I read, close out, and then when I come back, it's at a waaaay previous point of progress. When I go into layout and try to update or save before I close out, I see nothing except options to save as named layout ie save a whole nother layout which is unnecessary. using the update layout button does nothing useful. There's a 'close active layout' button, but no 'save active layout' button, which if I have to save before exiting (as would seem to be the case per my experience), shoudn't there be?
What am I doing wrong? What don't I know that I need to know?! I feel like I'm dating a gaslighting narcissist with this software. "You should know this," says the gaslighter, when really, could it be that it's not me, its the software that's not working sensibly? Please help.

Greetings Erin
Welcome to the forums we are here to help.
Set up your layout the way you want it.
Then save it as a 'named layout'.'
Next time open the named layout and when you finish before you close the programme 'Update Active Layout'
I keep that command on my tool bar.

yep I did that, and it doesn't save to that location the next time I open! So perhaps I need to open a trouble ticket.

Just checking - did you see an Update active button and, if so, did you click it?

I gave exact verbiage above for each button that I saw and what happened after clicking each one.
nothing happened when i used it. it reverts to a previous reading progress.

Please post a screenshot showing what you are seeing after clicking the Layouts button and before closing the layout

Are you on Mac or Windows? What version of Logos?
This wiki link may help you - https://wiki.logos.com/Layouts#How_do_I_get_a_layout_to_show_when_I_open_Logos.3f

Ok I noticed after I checked my version of logos that there was a software update available, and I updated. Now the update active appears to be working. So I think we're good. Thanks.
