BUG: Data error/inconsistency for Biblical event (a.k.a. I hate Logos)

Okay, I was testing a visual filter based on event:name. My intent was to build one based on Bible Event Navigator then duplicate and modify it to reflect Cavins, Jeff, Tim Gray, and Sarah Christmyer. The Bible Timeline: The Story of Salvation. The Great Adventure Bible Timeline. Ascension Press, 2011. In my mind the first is Logos specific, the latter commonly known through several Catholic Bible studies.

The problem: The Bible is not coded to correspond to the Bible Event Navigator i.e. Logos has been incapable of being consistent in something as simple and fundamental as event:name. Not only does the break the repeatability of procedures, it builds a complete mistrust of ALL Logos codes and an assumption that they don't care with a corollary that most of their users don't care about accuracy enough to yell. I hate filling tips of the day with notes in the form of ... this should work, but it doesn't ... or I tried to provide a filter but it doesn't really work ...

The event in the event navigator of "Cain and Abel give offerings" isn't what is in the Context Menu nor does it work in the Visual Filter.

I see that now.

Unfortunately, the Biblical Event Navigator (like many interactives of its time) is just a snapshot of the data from 2014.

You should be able to navigate the event hierarchy (with up-to-date data) in chronological order in (the sidebar of) Factbook.

Sorry, but the Factbook event hierarchy is a mishmash of Biblical events, theology, preaching themes ... and all in all an unusable mess. It is clearly no replacement for the Biblical Event Manager because it provides even less helpful information.

It appears that the replacement is: try the Biblical Event Manager name; if that doesn't work, try the Context Menu of the actual passage ... that will sound great enshrined in the tip of the day ...

Sorry, I am from a tradition that is more into narrative than into Paul -- admittedly no match for the Lutheran tradition which beats me for narrative in the Old Testament. (The Revised Common Lectionary has two tracks in order to support the Lutherans and their sympathizers.) And narrative analysis tends to be quite event driven so discovering this is a mess is very discouraging. Especially so since I've organized my new tip of the day around narrative data.

Based on your screenshot, I agree and I retract my recommendation.
