Why do the words outlined in red below appear in a list of events in the Topic Guide?
What happened to the Event icon (Beta 4)?

That's a good question!
I checked on my work computer before moving from beta 3 to beta 4 and it was the same there as you show above (so not a beta 4 change).
My original screenshow was from beta 4 on Mac which doesn't seem to have this change in icon.
