Logos/Verbum Subscription Guide For Dummies?

Maybe everyone gets this but me already. But this is what I feel like I need to know before I consider getting the subscription:

What exactly do I get from it that I won’t get from continuing without a subscription?
How much of the answer to #1 doesn’t carry over once I qualify for the Legacy License?
Why don’t they just make the materials in the answer to #2 the subscription and make the rest into a standalone?

1. You get the new features that aren't included in the Logos 10 Full Feature Set, such as the AI features and other newer cloud features. You also get access to a slew of books. If you own the Logos 10 Full Feature Set, all those features will continue to be yours and continue to work. Anything new, without a subscription, you will not get.

2. Once you have had a subscription for two years after the official launch (so, October 2026), you'll get the Fall Back License, which includes the new features minus the AI and cloud-based features.

3. I know this has been answered somewhere, but I cannot find the post. Basically, it allows for regular development AND release of new features, rather than once every 2-ish years. They would also be making two different products, then.

I know these were really basic answers, and I'm sure others will give more in-depth responses. I hope this helps.

1.) Assuming you have the Logos 10 Full Feature set and are considering Logos Pro for $100/year:

Features:

1.) AI Smart Search - you can search like you would in Google. It will highlight the answers instead of just search terms.

2.) AI Search Summarization - your search results are summarized automatically with links to the places in your library where the information came from so you can decide what to read more thoroughly

3.) Bible Study Builder - pulls questions from your library based on passages

4.) AI Resource Summarization - Logos will summarize a chapter or section of a book for you so you can decide if you want to pursue it

5.) AI Sermon Editor Tools - Logos will generate illustrations, applications, questions, and outlines from prompts as sermon starters.

I had it generate an outline for illustration purposes. The questions are based on your sermon manuscript, rather than being random.

Other Perks

You get a 5% discount storewide, and 5% Logos credit on all of your purchases for the year. If you would spend $1000 on Logos in a year, the subscription pays for itself in discounts and cashback. If you would spend $500, the subscription is effectively $50/year for you, etc. This probably makes the subscription substantially cheaper than the old model for almost all users who upgraded every cycle.

You will not have access to the new set of libraries without a subscription (just like you could not buy a library without a feature set or subscription before).

You get an additional book every month, apparently on the same tier as the existing free book-of-the-month program.

You get access to a few mobile ed courses, on Logos Pro targeted to pastors. They will rotate a few times a year, you do not get to pick them. Right now, I think they are Theology of Genesis, Idolatry and the Power of the Cross, and the Doctrine of Man (based on looking for temporary licenses in my library).

If you have the Full Feature Set, you already have AI translation but you will get a higher limit as part of subscription.

2.) I know you said you didn't want forum posts, but the answer to this question is an explicit list Mark put here; https://community.logos.com/forums/t/225226.aspx?PageIndex=1 . Basically, if you already own Logos 10, you will lose smart search, smart synopsis, help center, summarization, and the AI questions in the Bible Study Builder (you will only have the ones from your library). You will get to keep the other stuff. Obviously they have not released every feature yet, so we don't know what will happen.

Thanks a ton, Justin. I've bookmarked this page for quick reference to the new tools. I don't know why Logos doesn't do what you did just now - information scattered across Forum posts are not helpful for people who can't afford to scroll through the Forums all the time.
