It would be great to get a weekly forum digest with an AI generated summary!
This is an interesting idea. Can you expand what you were envisioning?
The Puritan Board forum has an occasional email that goes out about new posts and other things from the forums. I don't know how frequently they go out to people, but I get them regularly, partly, I think, because I don't often go there. When I read the OP here, I was thinking of an AI-generated summary of the posts, or just links to posts, that you have missed/not caught up on. It could be curated only to give you results in specific forums, so you're not getting an update on every single post from every single topic.
This is an interesting idea. Can you expand what you were envisioning? This pretty much captures it... Generative AI could enhance email digests for forum or bulletin board sites in several ways: Summarisation: AI could create concise, personalised summaries of the most relevant discussions, capturing key points based on the user's interests or previous activity. This avoids overwhelming users with too much information. Topic Clustering: AI can group related discussions together, allowing users to see thematic trends or popular topics across the forum, making the digest more organised and easier to scan. Tone and Engagement Insights: AI could highlight posts with positive, insightful, or controversial tones, flagging engaging content or debates, and guiding users toward threads they’re likely to find interesting. Content Personalisation: AI could learn user preferences over time, tailoring the digest to focus on topics, keywords, or specific threads the user engages with most, offering a more tailored experience. Post Summaries: For longer posts, AI could provide bullet-point summaries or "highlights" to save users time. Sentiment Analysis: AI could include insights into the overall sentiment of discussions (e.g., whether debates are becoming heated or collaborative), helping users understand the community's tone at a glance. Cross-Forum Trends: AI could track trends across multiple forums or categories within the site, giving users a wider perspective on what’s currently trending across different sub-communities. e.g. (me imagining what AI might say) This week the forums were abuzz about the new subscription business model which is due to be launched in october. Some users spoke in favour... quote1 quote 2 quote 3 Some expressed concerns, quote 4 quote 5 quote 6 Official responses included these key details: pricing will be such and such... fall back license read more here... There was also a popular tip about how to search for prayers about food in the OT.
That's very helpful John. If this existed, I would be interested in using it too.
It wouldn't hurt me if it existed so I wouldn't mind, but I think that the Logos forums only have the kind of content this would be useful for around major released. Usually, it would be more like:

A users reported a new bug that affects highlighting in lime green on Windows 8.1 when both Logos and Verbum are installed. Representatives from the company suggested it was a low priority and were answered with personal attacks. It was clear that this would not happen if Bob were still around.
A new user posted seventeen seminary homework questions, gradually framing them as software questions in response to complaints without changing their substance.
A prominent pastor has died. Users either adored or had never heard of them. Both felt the need to reply to the thread.
Someone asked a very specific question about a feature in the software. Several users have helpful and detailed responses. You also responded, Justin, but you made an important and confusing error because you can't stay focused on one task for any substantial length of time.

LLMs are still error prone enough that you would also have AI summaries of threads about users complaining about AI errors misrepresenting company policy.
That's funny
For example, this discussion summarizes as follows:
Note which detail takes 60% of the AI's focus.
ICYMI, we're planning to move to a new forums platform later this year: https://community.logos.com/forums/t/225526.aspx The new platform has a feature that can send members personalized weekly summaries of the most popular community posts. (I don't know if it uses AI or not.) So this may be coming soon.
