Selecting text in footnotes

Using the mobile app on Android, I cannot select text in footnotes. This is the case whether I'm in scroll view or page view, and if the latter, whether showing footnotes is selected or not.
Is this expected behavior? It seems like if it is expected, it's a shortcoming that should be fixed.

This has been a discrepancy in functionality between Android and iOS for some time - https://community.logos.com/forums/p/202091/1175136.aspx#1175136
I don't know why this difference exists or what would be involved in rectifying it.
