In notes, I would like to be able to press ctrl+N (or something else logical) to create a new note. The equivalent of clicking the "New note" button.

Go to tools -> Highlighting. Create a new palette called "Simple Note." Create a new style in that palette, and adjust the settings to get it how you like it (probably use "image before" to make something like the plain notes). Mouse over your new style and click the little down arrow next to it. Click "shorcut key" and then click "n." For the palette, click the down arrow and select the notebook where you would like your new notes to be.
Now, open your book where you want to add notes and open the notebook you are working with. Highlight anything in the book and hit "n."
Shaboom - you now have that section highlighted and a new note created in your notebook.

Thanks. That's clever. I'm sure I'll use that.
But it is not what I am asking for here. I want to be in a note and create a new note - by using a hotkey instead of mousing to the "New note" button, clicking it, mousing into the new note's editor.
I'd like to be (1) in the note with the cursor in the editor where I've been typing, (2) press the hotkey, and (3) start typing in the note editor. I'd let my mouse take a break thru the whole thing if possible.
That makes sense, Ken. I didn't understand your request, I guess because I never make unanchored notes. I can't think of a good workaround, but maybe someone else can!

Sounds like a good thing.... but for now I don't think it can be done in Logos.
