Today, we launched the extra free book perk for subscribers. Since it's a new perk, I wanted to make sure to share it here in case anyone is looking for it:  https://www.logos.com/free-book/subscriber

This will be refreshed every month; enjoy!  Thank you all!

Thanks Natalie, is there a reason why we have to manually add the book to our cart and “buy” it? Couldn't it just be added automatically to all subscribers? Thanks. Paul

I think it’s better this way to have proof you got it instead of relying on a download that some might get and others won’t due to a glitch.
Plus you get to see which book it is instead of guessing.

Not everyone is going to want the free book of the month on offer.  I have seen customers post on these forums, "Why is Logos promoting author x, his teaching wrong, I find this author's view offensive, Faithlife should stop promoting his/her books" etc and this is simply a book that was being advertised, they could have skipped over, but they had such a strong view on it they felt the need to post about it.  Imagine if this book was that the user was offended by the authors views, the book they thought Logos should not be promoting, was added automatically to their library.  They would not be happy at all and would be shouting from the roof tops, form the four corners of the earth, how dare Logos add this rubbish to their Library.

Our libraries are personal, I think itis the right approach to allow users the choice of whether to add the free book of the month or not.

It could also be a business decision, if you do not download it there has been no cost to Logos.

Are there any other books that are automatically added unless you bought something like a bundle beforehand?

    Thank you very much.

If I hadn't accessed the forum, I would never know about the book. And I don't see a 'subscriber's page' or something like it. So, how would I access subscriber's content directly, and not via forum etc?

    God bless!

Every month all the free books are listed on the web site and this one is listed amongst them

Thanks, but those are different pages, with different books. I can't find the way to the 'subscribers-only' content through the Logos start page, buttons or via my profile. Only through the link provided here.

What am I missing? It should be clear enough through all those pages etc.

    Again, thanks anyway. God bless.

From the "Deals" menu, select "This Month's Free Book & More". Then, scroll about 3/4 down the page to the box that says, "Grab You Exclusive Free Book". Click, "Get it now".

They really could make it more clear; the only indication that this is the additional free book for subscribers is where it states, "only for Logos subscribers" in smaller print.

I went to the web site, I hover my mouse over the “Deals” button and a drown down pops out with all of the deals available.

One of them is This Months Free Book and more” and I click on that. (Then I copied the link for you)

You should look at the other options under the deals menu as there as you will find  other free and discounted options, such as the free e-book.

I think sometimes things don‘t catch your eye when you are looking for something.

Oh, I see it now. Would probably miss all my subscriber's content just browsing that page. :)

I do think we should have a 'subscriber's page' on our profile to concentrate all perks, contents and every thing we need to manage or grab as subscribers. And a clear way to get there. I'll probably miss a lot without it during busy times without clear indications.

    Thanks and God bless!

Thanks. Honestly, I think for me and a lot of people that would be more than an 'easier way', but essential. :)

Can't possibly remember everything and find it all over the place. I would love to be able to access it through a 'subscriber's page' and see all that I could do and get in one place. I think it's a very basic thing for all kinds of subscriptions, services, websites etc.

    Again, thanks and God bless!

I should also note that it seems like the Verbum page is being 'emptied' by Faithlife. I would probably not even know about subscriptions (and the pre-launch offers) if I kept mostly accessing the Verbum page to look for books. To this day there is nothing there about subscriptions, no 'subscriber's offers', nada!

I have no problem accessing Logos, or looking after specific content, but the need to go through both for some very basic things doesn't feel right. And Verbum seems slowly being abandoned anyway, which is said.

I see that Logos is becoming more a tool for pastors (sermons, studies and parish activities etc), and less a research and reading platform. My guess is that the 'new vision' for the product is a 'parish system' to be implemented internationally. Wouldn't be my preference or vision for the platform, but not my place to have a say in it. But I can't think why it can't be, at least, a tool for Catholic priests and parishes too, with subscriptions and tools 'calibrated' for Catholic needs.

Anyway, thanks for the link and resource. God bless!

What happens if a subscriber misses this month's free book? Can they still get November's free book in December?

My point exactly.  I think FL should simply provide the book automatically to all subscribers (or at least provide that option so people don't miss i) and users can always hide / remove the book if they don't want it.

This reminds me of the Lazy Winner story.  There was a contest to see who the laziest person was and the winner would win $500 dollars.  So the host asked, "whoever is the laziest person here raise your hand!" And everybody started raising their hands except one guy.  When the host saw that only one guy didn't raised his hand he shouted: "We have a winner! The gentleman that didn't raise his hand is the laziest person here today! Sir, can you please come up here so you can get your $500 dollars prize?" And the lazy guy replied, "No, you come to me and please put the $500 dollars in my pocket!"

I think you get the point :D If you miss the free book of the month it's on you.  You have an entire month to get it.  There are a lot of post in the forums with guys saying, "I forgot to get such and such item on sale! Is there anyway FL could still honor the price?" Or "I had it in my cart but I waited 'til the last minute." No, you are offered a freebie it's your responsibility to go get it.  You wouldn't think this way if someone was gifting you money or a car on a monthly basis, you would get up and get it, wouldn't you? Enough said! ;-)

Am I correct that the three free faith life ebooks a month is gone now that I have been moved over to the new subscription system?

Yes. I personally would say that the new free book (and the "plus more" deals) for subscribers are much better than the free public domain books - but YMMV.

I generally agree, however, I've created a request to bring back the public domain books as a fallback option if a subscriber already owns the extra free book.

Love the Lazy Winner story.  Big Smile

Good story, although not particularly relevant to the point in question.  If we were talking about free books of the month then I think it appliees.  However in this case we are talking about a book which subscribers are paying for - its a benefit of the subscription.  I think it is reasonable that a benefit of the subscription is applied automatically, in the same way that any books which are part of the subcription I pay for are added automatically to my account.  That's my view anyway! :)

I can see both sides.  I would still prefer getting an official e-mail purchase receipt, showing that I did in fact purchase it.

I do think they could do a much better job at reminding people though. I received no e-mail when mobile ed courses were added, I only found out when I saw I had some new resources added (until a couple days ago the only "official" listing of them was a post in a thread on here, now it's also buried in a FAQ). I also received no e-mail on the 1st about my free subscriber book (and there's nothing on the main Logos page about it - the only link to it is buried in the FAQ).

I did, however, receive multiple other marketing e-mails, including one yesterday showing me that 12,471 people have "purchased" the main free book, and only 1,072 the subscriber free book.

Which then makes you wonder... are there not that many subscribers? Or are they just not sure how to get it? I imagine there are probably some who are confused and think the regular free book is the subscriber free book.

It will be interesting to see the numbers in the "See this week’s trending books from Logos" next week.

Thank you for sharing, DaL! Your story certainly brings a smile—and makes a great point about taking responsibility for these great monthly offers. Just as you said, if a free gift like this were tangible, like cash or a car, we’d be quick to claim it.

For those who missed this month's free book, don’t worry! While you can’t go back to pick up November’s book in December, be sure to set a quick reminder for future offers. That way, you won’t miss out on these valuable resources. Thanks again for the thoughtful (and funny!) reminder.

Out of curiosity I logged out of Logos to see whether all the books except the free one would be on sale to non-subscribers. I was pleasantly surprised to see that my monthly subscription gets me not only the additional free book, but other books on sale that others don't get.

Aside from the temporary resources that come with the subscription, I don't want Logos automatically adding anything to my library. Even with these temporary resources, I wish I could pick and choose what gets added to my library. Logos generously provides several 100% free books every month and I make it my duty to go looking for these, so I will certainly remember to look for the extra book that comes with the subscription I'm paying for. However, I do want Logos to provide a subscriber page, where we can see the current offerings (extra free book, quarterly courses, etc) at any given time.

    Tes,

www.logos.com/free-book gets a free book twice a month, once on the first and again on the fifteenth. Also, www.verbum.com/monthly-sale has a free book (I don't know if this is twice a month). Also, if you click here or search on www.logos.com "price:0.00" (without the " marks) you'll get a bunch of free books. Sometimes, they have deals where they will email out a link for a free book, but those are not on the regular.
