Offline function

Hello, I'm currently attempting to utilize the Android application, but I've observed that there are numerous features that necessitate an internet connection. One such feature is the fact book.

Previously, this feature functioned both online and offline, but now it seems to be accessible only when an internet connection is available. I am curious to know how many other functionalities also require an internet connection in order to provide the complete experience I expect from the resources available. Is there something I might be overlooking?

Best regards,
Mick

I thought to check 'Help' (similar to the Desktop) but I couldn't find any mobile Help.  Also, I thought they used to 'grey' tool choices offline.

I am wondering the same thing. I was on a plane last night and my Logos mobile app was almost unusable since I didn’t have an internet connection. How can I use the app offline? Also, is there a way to download all of my books so they are locally stored on my device for times I don’t have the internet? I have more than enough storage to keep them locally available. I know I could download them one by one, but is there an option to download them in batches or all at once?

is there a way to download all of my books

There is, but I personally don't recommend it (others feel differently). There are many issues which can cause you troubles in the long run. You should note that BOOK searches can be done offline, but LIBRARY searches cannot. Since many features require internet access, I don't see a great benefit to download large portions of your library for most users. If there are certain books you are currently reading or often turn to, those would be candidates to download.

I don't think there has been a change in behavior.

Can you elaborate on what issues having the books stored locally can cause? I have over 153GB free on my iPad Pro. I don’t think I’m in any danger of filling it up by downloading my library, but I would hate to cause issues in the app.

The app is prone to corruption. The best fix sometimes is to delete and reinstall. The app is also not as good at keeping resource files up to date. That isn’t a problem if you’re accessing it from the cloud. Sometimes notes and highlights get skewed when there is a disconnect between resource versions. And again, there are so many “online only” features, why bother downloading your entire library?

For the reasons stated in the original post. I don’t always have an internet connection available but still need to access resources, and I don’t always know in advance everything I want to use.

I believe a Windows Tablet runs the full desktop version of Logos.

I would be grateful for a desktop version for apple tablets. The M4 iPads are more than capable of running the full software.

I am often on deployments and employments with the military which keep me from internet for weeks. Also a dozen of more flights per year where I am preparing material on flight and don’t have full access.

I’m considering the purchase of a Windows tablet exclusively for Logos app.

Is there any plan to have full Logos functionality available for iPad? Or is there some way to do it without jail-breaking the device? I know there are windows simulators…

Not that I have seen - and I don’t expect it in the short/medium term if at all.

There are no voiced plans [as Graham already posted]. Most of the new development on the mobile is AI features.

And your work-around should be the Windows Tablet … trying to use your iPad work-around will just be a headache (eg more app frustration, and less Bible study).

Now, I use Apple thru-out (iPhone, iWatch, M1 laptop, iPods all linked) and if I were in your position, I'd just get a smaller Apple laptop. A bit larger than an iPad w/keyboard. I eventually gave up my iPad; larger iPhone is fine.

Thank you for the suggestions. Buying a new device is not an ideal solution. Not having the full desktop functionality is understandable, I suppose. But to be unable to use the simple search feature while offline… I think it is just a bad choice for the app itself. Perhaps purchasing a windows tablet is my only solution. Just seems so wasteful to add an additional tablet to my arsenal to use logos the way I desire.

Yes, not all search features are available when offline, but simple searches are still possible

I would love to access the search function while offline. As you can see below, it cannot perform the most basic Bible search while offline. The search feature in the app is fantastic when I have a connection. Please note the time stamps. Also, I am using the latest IOS version for iPad Pro and Logos app version. Any thoughts?

Does offline search work if you:

    1. Close the Logos app
    2. Put the iPad into airplane mode
    3. And then start Logos
