KYLE: Data inconsistency Mt 5:48
The addressee for this passage taken from the Context Menu is Crowd at Sermon on the Mount. Yet the Theme as shown in the Clause search is Disciples. I see nothing in the text that implies that the "you" of the command is a subset of the audience. Therefore, I suspect the coding is in error.
Orthodox Bishop Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."; Orthodox proverb: "We know where the Church is, we do not know where it is not."

The ambiguity of Matthew's (the narrator) audience has been noted in the past. I don't remember by whom. The idea is that the disciples are recognized as the hearers at the start, but the crowd, in general, at the end.
Of course, I have no idea if that's what lies behind the data identification in this case.

Thank you for catching this inconsistency in our tagging. The reported speech annotation annotated the crowd, while our referent tagging references only the disciples. We will get that fixed.
