Two questions concerning New Products and Community Pricing

1) Do New Products always proceed through Pre-Pub first or can they bypass it and go directly into publication?

2) In Community Pricing I do not see any sort of gauge or metric that indicates the length of time that a selection has been offered (alternately, maybe a graph that shows how fast each bid price has grown to its current level). I do not even see a date when a book was first listed. Ultimately, I am wondering if there is a point at which a book is yanked if there is no apparent interest? We seem to have several books that have languished for a long time (or so it seems) and/or are flat-liners below 20%. I would think that there might be more interest in Community Pricing if each book had a countdown down clock showing how much time is left before it is moved to, say, a "last chance" tier - before the Librarian of Death comes. I guess I just do not like to see cobwebs in a library.

JRS, as for the date both the pre-pubs and community pricing resources were listed I've set up rss feeds for both pages. This will give you the date posted to the list. Rosie posted that it would also be cool to have the date each resource hit the "in development" stage but other than manually watching for them, there really is no way that I know of.

No pull of resources from this page...though I can understand it could generate quick interest, but then again might not.... what would we have to talk about every Saturday if Barnes was no longer there..... I think CP needs to be give a bit more attention. Hoping the new Logos.Com website upgrade project will do some of that.

I'd like to see a full page spread on CP in Bible Study Magazine. As well as how it works, it could list some past bargains to highlight the value of CP as well as some current offerings. To make such an article worthwhile we would need to see a good range on titles on CP. Give though the lead time of putting together a magazine I wouldn't
expect to possibly see such a write up till MARCH/APRIL 2011 issue.

I think current offering is languishing for two major reasons, outside lack of exposure of Community Pricing which the Bible Study Magazine could potentially bring.

1). The last few resources added are in Latin, the market is going to be reduced for them immediately. I like though that they have been added but wonder if the right audience for these titles know they are on CP. One thought is an e-mail to those who have ordered Oxford Latin Dicitonary with a quick blurb about status of this project and an introduction to the CP and these titles being available. Additionally a note on the Pre-Pub page about the existene of these titles on CP. There are probably even better ways to get the word out to the right people but just a couple of quick thoughts. A semi-regular spot in BSM would be even better.

2) A lot of them a dictionaries offered by the same author... some have already made it through to Pre-pub stage and I think it's just a case of too much of a good thing so to speak. Other's will choose not to go for older dictionaries simply because of the date and I respect that choice even though I personally look at it different. A bit more variety in the types of materials and a range of authors on offer would spice it up a little bit.

3) A CP title of the month, in news wire would be great. It could either promote a new resource or one that's been there for some time. Ideally there should be at least one new title added every month to the page to get people coming back.

I have wondered that, too. The current setup of the Logos website makes it nearly impossible to figure out empirically. It takes too long to load the New Products page and it really does not appear to be only "new" products anymore -- too many items on the list. It's not possible to sort it by release date order.

And I guess those must all be pretty new, and I haven't recalled seeing any of them in pre-pub. But I really don't know for sure, because again there are no release dates on those. I've been told that this latter link is the place to watch for new titles that were parts of collections before and never previously available as stand-alone. But then I'm not sure you'd count them as "new products" bypassing pre-pub, as they might have gone through pre-pub before as part of the collection.
