Will newly manufactured books get added into collections?

Do series, or base product collections, get updated with new items once they are out of pre-pub?

I currently own the Silver base and will probably upgrade to the Platinum next year. Should I go ahead and get the two new Pillars on pre-pub or will they be added into the Platinum by the middle of next year?

Also, I think I will probably eventually get the Socio-Rhetorical Commentary Series. Do you think the new Matthew Socio-Rhetorical Commentary will get added into that series collection?

I noticed that there are two NAC commentaries that did not come with my Silver base, so I assume it is not a regular practice to update the base collection, but I hoped the other collections might be more frequently updated.

No. Additional volumes in a sereies that become available after a base package is introduced are not a part of that base package purchase. They must be purchased separately.

If you wait until Logos 5 is available (a few more years), they would then become a part of the upgrade price.

Now there is a chance if a collection is still under development or gathering interest on the pre-pub page that more books could be added and if you've locked in the price, you won't pay for the extra resources.

I wouldn't even go far as saying that... Commentary sets have come and gone as parts of packages. And I would think that including them would need to be agreed upon by the publisher so they might not be included in the package at that point.... agree though from current experience if they are added to the package then the fact you buy now will be taken into consideration... assuming that policy doesn't change.

Mostly true, but there are some Lexham resources that were only partially complete and they gave you the finished product when it was done through the updates. By the way, when was the Lexham SGNT Expansions completed? I didn't know it was until I just checked.

If the commentaries are releases AND the Platinum package is updated before you upgrade AND the Pillar commentary is still a part of it then the two new pre-pubs will probably by included in the package.

However, if either of these is a no, then you won't get those two books as a part of the upgrade to Platinum. Personally, I am choosing to wait. The per-book cost of cross grading to the next Platinum level should be lower than buying these works individually. I wait because I don't need these books immediately. If I thought I would need them sooner I would preorder now. As is it's likely to be another year before Logos does a package refresh (no crystal ball or insider info just an educated guess based on past refreshes).

I think you've gotten the answer to this, which is no. You purchase the collection or package as is. Nothing is added later unless it is a collection still in pre-pub, when occasionally an extra volume is added in. None of the items you mentioned are in this category.

If you want them, get them on pre-pub. If Logos follows the practice of the past, it will not release a new or updated Platinum collection until the release of the next major version upgrade of Logos (Logos 5). Most of us would guess that is at least two-three years off. So if you will use them now, get them now. Your upgrade price when a new version is released will reflect (at least in part) these purchases.

We all do and must assume that there are imposed delays between the release of a print version and a Logos version that are mandated by publishers, and that these vary from publisher to publisher. I'm sure Logos wants to add to each series as soon as it is possible to do so.

It most likely will as soon as it is released. The price of the collection will go up to reflect that. My guess is that the price increase for the collection is unlikely to be less than the cost of the new item in pre-pub. There isn't a lot of history to rely on for that guess. The Word Commentary had a couple of interim 'upgrades' and a final release in a bigger package. There was a small benefit to waiting for these, but of course you could have lost 6 or more years of the original collection's use in the meantime. I don't think waiting will produce much of an additional bargain for you. That's one you'll have to decide on, however.

As I understand it, Logos did custom upgrade pricing with Logos 4. It factored in the titles that I had purchased separately that were included in the upgrade price. It was not a dollar for dollar credit (as I understand), but you weren't buying the same title twice.

Others are right. It will probably be a few years before Logos 5. If you can use the titles in the meantime, it's worth making the purchase now, especially if it at a pre-pub or sale price. There are no guarantees about what will happen down the road.
