Does anybody have insight into this series, or individual volumes, maybe at least the authors (I know of Joel Green):
Two Horizons Commentary
Thanks!
I placed an order for it yesterday on the strength of some of the authors (the OT writers are British if you're wondering why you haven't heard of them), and because I do get frustrated sometimes at the lack of theology in some of the commentaries I read.
Forgot to add that the first few paragraphs in this article in BibSac 159 might help, as might this one. There's also a review of Thompson's commentary, and Reese on 2 Peter/Jude, and Green on 1 Peter, all in JETS.
Hey Mark,
Thank you! I need to brush up on British and Other English Speaking authors. [;)] In all honesty, I often find I like them best of all (Christopher J H Wright, Graeme Goldsworthy, NT Wright, etc).
I didn't know zip about this series, either--wondered if it was rebranded for American consumption. Thanks for your input. Will look at some of those reviews, but will probably pre-order this.
IMagine that, using Logos to research new purchases on Logos... what a great age we live in!
that is . . . if you own those. I don't . . . [:'(] Not for lack of wanting!
I don't
I won't post the whole article in case it breaches copyright, but here's the concluding paragraphs.
If you read through the reviews, there's a significant reserve (perhaps even scepticism) of the validity of a theological commentary, which in my view both partly explains the somewhat neutral reviews, and the need for such a commentary!
Thanks again, Mark. Actually, your excerpts also brought up another book that looks interesting (Webb's "Slaves, Women, & Homosexuals"). I will place a pre-pub order for these.
Greetings Gentlemen;
I have struggled for a long time with the common translations of the bible in regard to homosexuality. One of the primary reasons for purchasing Logos was to do my own personal study of the scriptures in regard to the topic. I have just started this endevor, so any help, or sugestions you may have would be appreciated.
B.
