I'm a student at college where they provide laptops for us. When I got my macbook pro logos 4 was already installed but there is nothing on it. The homepage was blank and it won't let me choose bibles. I tried looking at other posts and tutorials but none of them helped.

    Kathrine...

I'm not familiar with how colleges deal with Logos licenses...but normally, when a user logs in, with his logos username....then the system downloads the appropriate purchased resources...

Basically, if you don't have an account, I don't know how you'd access any resources....

Maybe someone else with more knowledge can chime in here...

Having Logos preinstalled doesn't make sense since Logos is licensed to a user.  Each user license would define a specific collection of resources (books) that the user can use.  The software can be installed for free, but that wouldn't include any resources which must be purchased.  You would need an Logos account to so Logos 4 can connect to Logos and download the resources licensed to you.

You should talk to your school's IT support and ask them why Logos is pre-installed.  Perhaps the school is providing base package licenses for each student, but they would need to provide you that information.

My guess is that someone saw that the Logos 4 engine is free and thought it would be of use. But the engine is useless without an account and without resources, so it really makes no sense to install Logos 4 unless each student has a license to use Logos resources.

    Hi Katherine,

Your thinking was like mine when I came across Logos 4.  I downloaded what I thought was a package.  But  I soon learnt that this was the " engine only". So Logos 4 is like a two step process.  Step 1 dowload the "engine' which is free Step two then u purchase  the product you require, In my case case I purchased the " Bible Study "  onces downloaded, folow the prompts and let it do its thing.  once indexed you are ready to play [:)]

Here is a link that explains how the Logos licensing works: http://www.logos.com/ArticleViewer/2090

Todd is correct in that Logos licenses the individual user. Last info I heard is there is no institutional licensing so the Logos install on your computer is probably just the search engine and was installed under a mistaken impression that since it is free there would be some usable features you might benefit from. Other free software programs are frequently installed on computers by resellers to add value to your purchase. The Logos search engine is free but not much use without resources to search.

Double check with your school if they are the ones who installed Logos on the computer. You may have already paid for something you are presently missing. If not, this could still be a great day for you if you will check out the different Logos base packages. Presently there is a sale going on that can save you substantially. You can even get a bigger library using the affordable payment plans. Watch the demo video here for exciting details:  http://www.logos.com/demo
