Ron I like your Precept setup and but confused how you use the secondary copy.

Will you please show me how to use the "send links here" How do I set this up and use it?

Hi Sam,

I'd be glad to help. Do you already have your layout set up as above and you just need help with the "send hyperlinks here" portion of the set up and use? Or do you need help setting up the layout as well?

Look at Kevin's posts in particular (about halfway through the first page) that give step by step for configuring the layout exactly as you want it.

Regarding the "Send Hyperlinks Here", once you have the layout configured, click on the panel button for your second Bible and click on "Send Hyperlinks Here". That configures it so that if you click a Bible reference in any of your other tabs (a footnote in your primary Bible, a cross-reference from Treasury of Scripture Knowledge, etc) then it will open in your second Bible without disturbing the location of your primary Bible. You can also manually look up references in the second Bible by typing in the Bible reference in that pane.

Thanks Ron I got it. I was just hovering my mouse over the Scripture reference in TSK and the Scripture would come up. I never tried to clicking on it. Love your set up. Are you going to a weekly class? What did you think about what the lady (i believe her name was Sharon) said about the number of times she read the Scripture through (50 to 100) times and today's version of Precept is for the lazy? Gordon Fee a renowned writer in his book (How to read the Bible for all its worth} says the same thing "reading the Scripture repeatedly" is the key. I been going to Precept classes for 2 years now and love it but think i could gain more if i would work harder. The lady motivated me. Anything you would like to add that might help me in my study will be appreciated. You seen to be a pretty smart guy.

Sorry Sam, I got home much later than expected on Thursday and then was away from the computer almost all day yesterday as well, so I'm just now getting a chance to sit down and answer this.

Anyway, thank you for the compliment, that's very kind of you [:)] I agree completely with Sharon that the Precept system (while still a good introduction to the methodology of inductive study) has been watered down and made a bit "lazy". Reading Scripture repeatedly is definitely the key to the system and it is unfortunately not emphasized in the books like it used to be. Ideally, I like to read through the passage one time for each word I'm searching for/highlighting. When possible, I never highlight more than one term per read through. With that said though, I don't always have nearly as much study time as I'd like and I have to take "shortcuts" by highlighting two or three terms on a single read through. Inductive/precept study is definitely a method where you get out of it what you put into it. If you read through the passage once, highlighting 15-20 different terms during the same read, you won't get nearly as much out of it as you will if you read through it 15-20 times, highlighting one term on each read.

I've never taken any "official" Precept classes, though I'd like to sometime. Everything my wife and I have done have been through the New Inductive Study Series books...we haven't yet had an opportunity to do one of the Precept Upon Precept studies. We've also done one of the New Inductive books with our small group through Isaiah and we'll be starting 1/2 Peter and Jude with our group next week. I'm glad to hear that you are enjoying the classes and that you have been motivated to work harder at it. I am sure you will get that effort back in results in your personal study and that it will be a tremendous blessing to you [:)]
