Syntax search inconsistency in opentext

In experimenting with the syntax search, I am getting some surprising results. Perhaps someone can explain this to me.

First I tried the Addressee template for opentext. I get 667 matches in the opentext Greek New Testament.

Then I edited the syntax search by deleting everything except Clause Component (Addressee). When I run the search again. Now I get only 579 matches.

Since the initial search is more refined, why would it find more matches? I would expect that every clause that is labeled Addressee, also has at least one word group with at least one word in it.

    Hi Harry

I think (but am not certain) that the first difference in the results is for Matthew 23:13 where the first search returns 3 results and the second returns just one.

    Looking at the actual clause

there are three word groups under the single addressee so three matches for the first search but just one for the second.

The same occurs in Matthew 23:15 and it is this structure - I assume - which is the cause of the differences.

    Hope this helps

That clarifies it. It makes perfect sense. Thanks so much!
