Best way to look up a dictionary entry on the iPad?

I was trying to look up some terms in Easton's Bible Dictionary on the iPad for my 10-year-old son who had to define "Jewish" for his school work.  I could not find an easy way to navigate to "Jew" in the dictionary on the iPad.  If I open the book and go to contents and then click the arrow next to "J", it only takes me as far as "Jacob".  I have to select that entry and then page through several tens of pages to make my way to "Jew".  Am I missing something obvious?  Searching isn't a help either since a common term like "Jew" returns far too many hits, even if I only search my "Dictionaries" collection.

Ron, if you swipe down, you will get the menu bars. In the top bar, you can enter the reference "Jew" and then hit the "go" key on the keyboard.

    Hey Damian,

Sorry it took me so long to respond.  This did the trick...thanks.  The funny thing is that I did try this that day, but it kept taking me out of the book and switching me to my Bible instead of taking me to the corresponding dictionary entry...but I can't get that to replicate now, it's working as expected.

    Thanks!

There have been a lot of changes to the ipad version since this was posted. Currently, if you swipe down there is a box at the top that says "Enter reference", but entering a keyword does nothing (unless you enter the name of a Bible book in which case you are taken to that book in your default Bible).

It seems to want you to enter a page number or something else--when you are already at an entry, the input is prefilled with a number. For example, in AYBD, if I am on the entry for Abigail, the data in the input box is "Vp 1.15". If I try typing in "Abigail" it does nothing.

Am I missing something or is looking up entries in a dictionary now broke?

I've found the same behaviour and I find it very limiting.  I have to make my way through the table of contents in order to get to a specific entry.  I should be able to just enter it just like I can in the Logos desktop app.
