Indexing Hung Up?

So I downloaded the Platinum version that I purchased last night. I left the computer indexing overnight and it was finished when I got up this morning.
When I restarted the program, it automatically downloaded an update (about 42mb) and restarted the indexing process. I had to turn the computer off to get to work (I suspended the indexing first). When I got to work at 8:30, I restarted the indexing and it advised about 3 hours and 45 minutes left. It is now 11:05 and it show 3 hours 48 minutes left.
Did I do something wrong? Any help would be appreciated... (I should note that I am not connected to the internet here at work with my laptop if that makes a difference)

I was able to open the indexing log and see that it is, indeed, working. I'm just not used to this slow process I guess.
Does this happen every day? Is there a way to control when updates and indexing occurs? I can't use the program until this stops... I typed the word faith in the search box and it returned 0 items.

Hmm. This might be a good time for some Diagnostic Logging If we could see the indexer log we might be able to diagnose if there is an issue, or of it's just due to the oddities of guessing the indexing time.

After most updates, Logos 4 will need to re-index your content, but once you have a full index, re-indexing shouldn't take nearly as long.
As far as the estimates are concerned: they're difficult to get right. If the logs indicate that work is being done, it's best to leave it alone.

Thank you both.. I went to lunch and came back and it advises about 25 minutes remaining.

David, Is Logos working on a database of actuall index times per CPU/RAM combination? It seems like having that data available would be handy.

No, as there are many other factors involved in how long indexing takes (for example, if you're also encoding a huge video while indexing, it will take longer, and there's no way for us to detect that you're doing this). Improving our estimates would take an enormous amount of work relative to the benefit that it would provide to anyone.

Thanks KS4J! I'm becoming more aware of the slight differences on the platforms that make some of the answers difficult. Your input is greatly appreciated.
