Auto-enrolled in 4.2 beta :-(
Normally, I don't participate in beta testing on my production system, but I do load RC builds. However, since there appears to be virtually no gap between the release of 4.1 gold and the 4.2 beta, Logos updated me automagically to 4.2 before I could change the update channel to stable. [:(] Guess I'm a 4.2 beta tester regardless of whether or not I want to be.
Can I please request that you allow at least a day or two next time for people to change their update channel just in case all they want to do is test RC and not the early beta releases?

Didn't really want to be on Beta ... but I didn't set my channel to default soon enough ...
although, now that I ponder it, perhaps Beta is where I want to be?? *smile*

As an FYI, I have one account that runs beta, (luckily I turned off beta channel on my production copy!), it downloaded it automatically, but it still asked if I wanted to install it - it did NOT auto-install it. I guess sometimes we proceed ahead and click yes without thinking about what it could be....

Got update to Beta as well, was running 4.1RC2.
But aside from that, the Biblical Places (maps) can now zoom to full screen with no links showing at the top and no map icons at the bottom. This is really NICE!
EDIT: now just wish we could get rid of that floating label (where the map comes from).

Can't speak for others, but I specifically rejected the upgrade request when Logos started (I was afraid something like this would happen). I was on SR-2 as of this evening. I refused the update request, changed the update channel, it downloaded something and instead of the GM, it downloaded 4.2 beta anyways and didn't ask me if I wanted to update. It just did it.

yeah, I run Beta on one account and non-beta on another. Fortunately I set my channels right--although I have never had a real problem with beta--only early Christmas presents! [G]

Guessing that isn't the most helpful answer. So here are the details.
For a beta install the default channel is beta. When we release an RC the default channel switches to stable. So if you install as suggested in http://community.logos.com/forums/t/8883.aspx you will install a beta and remain on the default channel (i.e. Beta) until we release the first RC. Bradley states the alternative on that page (which I assume most of you probably did based on your problem):

set update channel to default - you stay on the beta channel until we release the first RC.
set update channel to stable - you shouldn't see an update until we release a version greater than your beta to the stable channel.

Sorta. I originally followed Melissa's instructions on Logo4 forum (which seems to match what you quoted from Bradley). So my best guess is that since i have Auto Update (in Program Settings) set to NO, then i will get prompts at the bottom of the main window, to which i can just press the Cancel. Then press Update to allow an update when i deem ready (thereby skipping a beta version when i want).

i get them all (understand, that is) except for this option. What does it mean and why would I use it? I guess it is for the person in beta who does not want any more beta updates, and will only get the next "stable" (non-beta release)? So, they are happy with the current beta, but don't want more . . .
But this would not be an option for the person already on the non-beta channel. (default which is, lol, stable)

Correct. It's a way to opt out of future beta updates or to be sure you are on stable channel!
