Serious Bug: Bug Eats Library

Version: Mac Logos 4.0a (4.10.4.6016)

Actions taken in order of occurrence:

1. Opened Logos 4 to an empty layout.

2. Clicked Library icon - had 1256 resources.

3. typed 'ESV' in filter field

4. clicked ESV bible

5. Library window flickered 5 or 6 times as to refresh contents

6. ESV bible never opened into its window

7. Closed Logos 4

8. Opened Logos 4.0

9. It signed in

10. It prepared library for use

11. it opened to an empty layout.

12. clicked library icon - had 0 (zero) resources

13. type 'nasb' in filter field

14. nothing happened

15. closed Logos 4.0

16. Open Logos 4.0 to empty layout

17. Clicked Home icon

18. Loading icon just spins and spins and spins.....

19. closed Logos 4.081638.Archive.zip

Where did you click? Clicking the title should open the resource (the title should change color when you mouse over it). Clicking elsewhere just selects the item in the list

Can you post an image of this? (Shift + CMD + 4) then select a portion of your screen.

There is a known issue with the home page and 4.0a, we have a fix for this and will release a fix shortly.

If you type "open esv" in the command bar and execute the command does it open the ESV?

Does changing the view mode (from list to tile) in the library change anything?

Can you post your Library Catalog?

~/Library/Application Support/Logos4/Data/<unique id>/LibraryCatalog/catalog.db

Typing in the command field leads to the program freezing up. Both the mac spinning wheel and the Logos spinning icon just spin.

the catalog.db is 90MB large and will not upload.

There could be a problem with the catalog.db. Can you rename the catalog.db to catalog.db.orig and restart? It will take a bit to rebuild it (a few minutes, not hours), but it might fix the problem.

I moved the catalog.db to the desktop.

I restarted Logos.

It rebuilt the db.

The problem still occurs.

I don't mean to intrude, but did you check to see if the resources are readable on the HD by going to the user/library/application support/logos 4....resources directory? It could be a hardware issue. Tom you will need to give him the specific path as I am not on my Mac. Just a thought..

If you click the Logos 4 icon then hold down the Cmd key to get the login prompt then select "Use a blank layout" can you get things to work properly?

I have deleted Logos 4 and am reinstalling it at present.

I'll open it using this procedure.

I've watched the video and reviewed the logs. They don't line up.

We create new logs each time you run, so the logs from the video are gone.

I've not been able to reproduce what I saw in the video. The ESV Study Bible opens each time for me.

No need for a video, but can you reproduce this issue and capture and post your logs after you've closed Logos 4.

1. Start Logos with CMD button

2. Sign in with blank layout

3. Click the Library icon

4. Type ESV in the filter box

5. Click the ESV title

6. ESV should open (My library popup goes away for me when the book opens)

7. Click the Library icon

8. ESV should already be in the filter, so click the ESV Study Bible

9. ESV Study Bible should open and the popup go away.

if not, wait 15-20 seconds.

10. Quit the Application ( don't restart )

11. gather the logs

12. Post logs back here.

Some other things to try after gathering the logs for the above scenario.

You can click and drag a book from your library to position it where you want. Does this work for the ESV Study Bible?

Right click on the ESV Study Bible and choose "Open in A New Tab". Does this method work?

Another way is to not even use the library. Type "Open esvsb" in the command bar, enter or wait for drop down to select command to execute with click.

Excellent, thanks for the logs, I see an exception when you're opening the ESV Study Bible

We think we have a fix. The exception in your logs which seems to indicate that the synced Panel Text Size is not lining up. I've changed the code where the exception was coming from and added some logging. This will come out in the next Beta release.

In the meantime, if you have a windows box, open the ESV Study Bible and adjust the Panel Text Size and force a sync (click the sync icon near the top of the window). Force a sync on your Mac platform and try to open the ESV Study Bible.

Access to the text sizing option is disabled. The icon for the ESV Study Bible is missing. I'll wait for the update.
