Hi everyone

I think the main challenge for users of logos is to learn how to use so many wonderful features and possibilities the software have.

Logos has this amazing community with so many talents and kind users that share, help and support one another.

(one of) The best way to pass your knowledge and experience with logos is using videos. There are some "user-created videos" in the videos page (http://www.logos.com/videos). But we can do a lot more.

I am not talking about long videos or complicated ones. What I have in mind is short videos that everyone can does and share with small contributions that help others to learn a little more.

If you think that is a good idea the next question is "how i do it?" There are plenty of software but there is a free one I would recommend. This is not a commercial, please believe me. But it is free and so easy to use that everyone can make a video in a blink of an eye.

I am talking of Jing (http://www.techsmith.com/jing/) watch the overview video on the homepage and take your conclusions. But the point is not the technology but the sharing.

Logos is a wonderful software. There are so many ways to study the bible using it. We could just share how we are using it. I think everybody will win with your sharing.

Why am I am saying all this?

1. Because I found out the this is the best way to learn who to use logos. Watching other's videos

2. Because the official videos on YouTube do not reflect a real use of logos in most of the cases. I do not want to know what button I have to click to start a new note. I would like to see a real use of notes in a real study bible and how this feature help someone to find or use a fresh knowledge of the scripture.

3. Because English is not my first language and for me is easier to see things happening in front of my eyes then to read and try to reproduce by my self.

4. Because the task of teach how to use logos is the fundamental task to continue using and enjoying logos. I think logos will not accomplish it alone. The company will and should count on the help of thousands of users who love the software.

I do not know your reaction logos reaction to these Ideas. I hope we could have more videos from now. I will try to do some.  Hope you could get the spirit of this simple idea.

Well, what do you think?

Here are some videos that I would like to watch here. Simple things that I can ask but I would like to hear and watch direct from you.

1. What  method do you follow to prepare a study for your Sunday school class? Do you use the passage guide or do you adapt it ?

2. Could you show us a moment that you discovered something about the bible that you only could find because you were using logos? What was that moment? It was the meaning of a word? A social context of a passage?

3. How do you use collections? Why did you did the collections you have in your logos? How do you use your collections?

4. could you tell one story that  was useful for you? Some information that made a difference when you where preparing your sermon?

5.  Do you use the feature "custom bible study guides"? Can you show us why you did your custom study guides?

All these examples can be done in a three or  five minutes. You do not have to be a scholar to share your experience.

Well that is it.

As you can see there are many grammar errors and mistakes in this post. As I said English is not my native English.  I can understand, read and listen English, but writing is hard for me. I have to work a little more than you to study the bible. :)))

Logos, forgive me if I am proposing something that is not allowed. If this is the case, that is fine to me. But please, find a way to produce more REAL videos. I mean videos from the real labor of studying and applying the bible in your lives.

This is one good example of what I am talking about.

On the videos page (http://www.logos.com/videos) you can see this video made by John Morphy

My Favorite Things in Logos 4: Clippings, Biblical People, and Power Lookup

    3:52 | John Murphy

    1. It was made using Jing

    2. It is just 3:52 minutes long

    3. It is just a comment about features of logos. Can you see the clues you can learn from john?

simple like that. Everybody can do it.

Thanks John and others that shared your videos with us.

Hi Todd. Yes these videos are very nice. I wish we could have a whole page just with this kind of videos. I have some observations about them.

    1. If you do not know about them. If you are new to logos. It is very unlike you find theses videos if you starting form the logo's homepage. They are not listed on the official video page. They should be easily founded.

    2. There is none or little incentive from logos (at least I don't know any) to users create more videos like these. Logos could do reward the best videos created by users. We could have some form to vote and choose the best ones. Things like that.

    3. I think we can have much more videos like that on this community. We are so many here. Why there are so few compared with so many contributions to this community? I suspect that is because people think it is difficult to create a video and because they do not have an incentive.

Don't get me wrong. I am not complaining. I am grateful to theses videos. I just think this could be the normal practice among us.

Hi Todd. Yes theses videos are very nice. I wish we could have a whole page just with this kind of videos.

We do have a whole page with just user videos. It's this page on the wiki. We users started it first on the wiki, and Logos noticed and placed links from their official video page to some of the user ones. I'm not sure they are keeping up with all the new user ones we post. Whenever someone posts a good video on the forum, one of us wiki editors adds a link to it on the wiki user videos page.

People are more than welcome to contribute more! I like your idea that Logos should do something to give users an incentive to create good videos. Reward the best videos with an unlock credit or something. I would create more; I just haven't had time.
