Smart Tag problem: Pulls up L3?

When I try to use smart tags (Windows Vista / Office 2007) it opens up L3. In Word options, it lists 2 smart tags Logos and Logos 4, I unclicked the Logos entry because it was connected to Libronix folder. This eliminated Logos smart tags altogether. It only works with both checked and pulls up L3. How can I fix this to only use it from L4?

Hi Ed,
Don't miss that certain Vista users had to install a Microsoft hot fix to get them to work (item 3 on the wiki smart tag helps page to which Rick referred you). I was one of those & my symptoms sounded a lot like yours. Installed but not working. If you need it, the hot fix worked great & had no discernible side effects, so don't be afraid of it if you really do need it.

I actually have the choice on my system to either use Logos 3 or 4 Smart Tags.
On my system, if Logos 4 has never been opened, then I only see the option for Logos 3 Smart Tags under Additional Actions on Word's right-click menu.
If Logos 4 is open or has been opened and then closed, then I have Smart Tags for both and can use either one. I like that. Make sure they are both enabled under options on the Additional Actions.

I can't run smart tags for Windows XP Office 2007.
I read the touble shooting suggestions. Apparently my L4 add on is enabled. However, what does the below mean in regards to "administrator mode"and how do I find if that is my case?
Ensure both Logos 4 and your Office application are running and that they are not running in administrator mode.

Run as administrator: Using Windows Explorer navigate to the Logos4.exe file and right click > properties > compatibility. Make sure that Run as Administrator is not checked. An easy way to get to the folder is right click on the icon in your Start Menu and choose "open file location" (Windows 7maybe something different in other versions).
Make sure Logos 4 is running: Actually open the program as if you were going to use it.

The Hotfix has the warning all around it, have you had any problems since downloading and the post? The smart tag works, but only pulls up L3. This will fix that?

That was my symptom, too, running Vista 64. The hotfix cleared it up no sweat. I, too, was a bit nervous, but the warnings are 99% of the time lawyer-speak to prevent liability issues... I was in the 99% & have suffered NO ill effects.
BTW, I've since reinstalled & reinabled the L3 Smart Tag, since it also gives access to the Passage Guide, which I still use along side L4's. The point: both run fine. Once the underlying issue that prevented L4 from working was fixed, they both run. No need to uninstall L3 for L4 to work.

I have the Vista 32 bit. I installed the hotfix and it still doesn't work. The L3 keeps pulling up. Same problem. Maybe the uninstall might work?

Ok...finally got it to work after uninstalling the L3 smart tag. Question, should I uninstal the hotfix then?

Good Michael, at least you have a choice, my windows 7 doesn't list any Logos or Libronix smart tags option. I wonder why...I hope I can get some help to get them to work because I'd really hate to bother customer support for something like this.

Unless you've never uninstalled the L3 Smart Tag before, IMO the hot fix fixed it for you... Unless you're experiencing a problem, I'd leave it. But in the end it's your call...

Does your system meet all the requirements at http://wiki.logos.com/SmartTags_Not_Working ?
What version of MS Office are you running?
