Critical Old Testament Commentary

I would like to hear others opinions on what critical Old Testament Commentary is the best? In the near future I am looking to invest in an Old Testament Commentary set. Currently I possess the NAC, which is good enough for what I'm doing now. However, I'm looking for a commentary set that is more critical of the biblical text. I would appreciate your thoughts and opinions.

There is no ONE set that is the best for each book. Hermeneia + Cotinental (on sale now) has some very good commentaries (Genesis, Isaiah, Ezekiel, Amos, Psalms, Daniel). In my opinion the historical commentary published by Peeters (Not in Logos) comes second (Kings, Exodus) and ICC though a bit old, comes third (Excellent commentary on Jeremiah a nice one on proverbs and you get good textual notes in almost every volume of ICC). WBC surprises me with very good discussions many times. As for NICOT I find the Samuel volume very interesting using discourse analysis. The one missing from this list is the one that is most famous and I don't think I can find anything that I have learnt from it (but they have nice drawings on the cover).

I always start from the original languages; therefore, any commentary which discusses the original languages and exegetical work more than others is my pick. Commentaries which are mystical, allegorical, in nature and not based on a literal hermeneutic are at the edges I stay away from.

The best way to filter all the resources is find a pastor you believe is teaching the word accurately, then find out what they recommend.
