BUG: Default state of Insights sidebar not updating properly
I am unsure if bug reports should be posted as questions or discussions but have opted to post this report as a question.
- I open the default Bible and Commentary layout with the ESV.
- I open the Insights panel in the ESV.
- I open a new tab of the ESV alongside the original.
The second instance of the ESV should open with the Insights sidebar open. However, it does not (at least not consistently). The results are the same if in step two I am trying to change the default setting to not open the Insights sidebar. The state of the Insights sidebar is not properly and consistently updating.
I have discovered a workaround for this bug. If I close the original Bible in which I made the change in step two before opening another tab of the Bible in step three, the default state of the insights sidebar is updated. Closing the Bible in which the change was made appears to save the updated default state of the Insights sidebar.

@Aaron Hamilton Logos is designed to save preferences when a panel is closed. So this behavior is not considered to be a bug.
Feel free to post a suggestion if you would like to see this changed.

This is very helpful information, and with all the reading I have done on this issue (a lot), this is the first I've heard of it. @Mark Barnes (Logos) has always said that closing the Insights sidebar in a Bible would change the default setting, without mention of the need to close the panel to save the setting.
So the information is helpful, but I remain a bit puzzled as to why the behavior to only save settings after a panel is closed would be intentional.
Thank you for the reply.
