Lightning Fast?

I am just switching over from Accordance (of which I loved for just looking at the text, but its search function was miserable) and I am curious if it should be expected for the program to stall this consistently?

are these bugs still being worked out? or is constantly looking at the stupid pinwheel going to be active part of my life going forward?

just curious if i was the only one....

Generally the performance of L4 Mac is good. However, there are some things you need to consider that were not elaborated on in your post:

If L4 Mac is still indexing, then it will be slow until the index process is completed.

If you are opening to the home page and then opening the default workspace it takes time to populate and you can remedy this easily. In short, go to the home page and uncheck open home page at start up. Then create your own workspace and have the reports such as Passage Guide and Exegetical guide open but unpopulated until you open a particular section. There are some user videos available and even though they show the L4 Win program, they pertain almost identically to the L4 Mac. Here is the link: http://www.logos.com/videos

At the bottom is where you find links to user videos that discuss some workflows and workspace setups that should assist you in making L4 Mac more efficient.

Ditto to what John said. All are worth considering. However, beyond those considerations, the current L4Mac does have some performance issues that can be very frustrating.

But, we have been told by the devs. that they are well aware of this and are actively working on performance enhancements and generally tooling the code for speed. Remember, this really is not the 4th version. This is a brand new product and they have been working terribly hard to get us a stable version first. Now they are working to speed it up.

this is great guys - i think i sounded a bit sarcastic when i posted immediately, I was just trying to load some stuff for my Luke Exegetical class and got tired of waiting - side note, pretty amazing class taught by Joel Green at Fuller Seminary

is there a specific thread that highlights was to pear down L4 so that it functions optimally now - essentially it searches alot of resources that arent applicable to me and i would like to drastically narrow where it searches

In your professional opinion do you feel that Logos 4 Mac will eventually be as quick and responsive as the Windows version upon further optimization, or are there external factors that make speed on the Mac version more difficult to attain than on the Windows side?

It's really too early to tell, at this point. While we know of areas that need improvement, we won't really know how fast we can get until we've gotten there. Certainly, you can expect significant improvements, but I don't yet know the full extent of them.
