Is it possible to make Logos.com more ridiculous

Yes, this is endlessly repeatable … enter Abilene or Abilene Press; get InterVarsityPress

The machine interpretation is so close to what I entered … I mean perhaps if you took the ISSN's of one of them and compared them digit by digit to the ISSN's of the other you would find they use the same 10 digits of the Arabic numerals in a similar frequency.

Okay, if I go to Amazon I can find the full name "Abilene Christian University Press" which does work correctly in the Logos storefront but I still don't think I should be fed a garbage response when I hope my memory of the publisher's name is sufficient to find it. I would be far more pleased to have a "sorry we don't have anything that meets your request".

@MJ. Smith, I see this question is still open and I'd like to take any actionable insights from it that I can to help resolve your question. How can we help?

The Search routine needs to be examined for what it does in a "not found" situation. What should happen when "abilene press" is not found could be either a search for "abilene" on its own OR a notification of no resources meeting the criteria available. It should make the assumption that the search terms, unless in quotation marks, are provided from the most distinctive (important) to the least distinctive in a left to right sequence. It appears to assume "press" is the most distinctive and provide me with the most popular publisher whose title include the word "press"

I believe the marketing team is considering turning the "automatch to an author" feature off, partly due to problems like this. I'll pass this feedback on ot them.

This goes back to some of Bob's logic … the more unique is the alternatives-anchor, not the more common.

This is interesting behavior Using bolean operators would help eliminate this behavior if there were available.

It turned out that the team had already turned automatch off, but a recent bug meant that the site was going back to its old behavior. They'll get that bug fixed.
