What version of the app are you running?
There was a change in Logos 39 that might affect this.
From the release notes:- Highlights anchored to verse references will no longer highlight the passage entry in commentaries.

BTW … forums seem broken on Ipad. Tags section says type but no keyboard is displayed with which to type. Cannnot tag! Surely this was tested! Similarly, at least on iPad, the forum filters only offer very littlee by way of tags … marketing products tags only … is this as intended/ or is this another iPad cannot type bug?
This should now be resolved but do let us know if you see the issue persist.

Forums commenting is back to usual, but I enjoyed the preview of what is (hopefully) to come (minus the bugs - especially, but not restricted to, mobile).

The App store update fixed the highlighting issue. Thank you Graham and thank you devs. I tend to leave all apple updates off … too many poor experiences over the years. I should have looked first.
As to the new Forum appearance … how do you browse? If the filtering had more filters (such as iPad) it is still more cumbersome than the old forums … I still have to start by filtering! It almost presumes that the function is support replacement with the user searching for a specific issue (which it failed the test here) when for many users browsing the posts, as grouped by interest focus, is preferable. I have browsed for years, contributed on occasion, but learnt much through that browsing.2017 15" MBP, iPad Pro

If you are browsing for a post topic, consider using the search page found in the quicklinks. iPad would fall under the "Mobile" tag.
