Hey Matt, Is there any known bugs? Maybe it has to do with the resources I have? Upgraded to this beta and same sympton it just sticks at the splash screen

Matt - Update Now on Verbum is not finding the update. Closing and reopening found it.

Orthodox Bishop Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."; Orthodox proverb: "We know where the Church is, we do not know where it is not."

Ah, sorry you are running into that. We'll investigate on our end.

@Ryan Jones Can you grab us a Sample of your application while the application is "stuck"?

    Instructions:

    1. To grab a Sample.txt file make sure your macOS has the logging tool which can be found here.
    2. Enable the Utility tool
    3. Open the Utility tool
    4. Select Sample which you should be prompted to save it as a zip file.
    5. Then feel free to upload that file back here using the paperclip icon.

    Important:

    • Ensure logging is enabled
    • You'll need to reboot Logos once you have enabled the utility tool. (For your instance, might just need to close and attempt to reopen)
    • Grab the Sample file ONLY when your application is stuck. If it's currently not, you'll need to recreate the behavior. For you, it might just be a force quite of the application and then reopening it to get back in your splash screen state.

Having two bibles open with the insights panel open. Increasing the font size in one bible will affect all open insights panels.

Attributes by resource rather than instance is the norm in Logos although I am sure they are trying to change that.

Orthodox Bishop Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."; Orthodox proverb: "We know where the Church is, we do not know where it is not."

The addition of the textual history stuff to Insights is interesting, but it makes me increasingly unsure who Insights is for. I thought it was a way of creating a quick passage guide, like a generic study Bible. But I don't think the small group leader who doesn't want to make a passage guide is going to wonder what the Vulgate of Acts 3:10 is. I don't think I am the target audience, and only turned the Insights pane back on to test the new feature.

It's also surprising that it shows the NA28 even for the KJV [edit: a little testing shows that it just uses my prioritized Greek New Testament, which makes sense]

    I had the same reaction

Of course, if you're already in a layout with a Passage Guide or Apparatus in your layout, then Insights is unnecessary. And the Small Group leader won't likely see the Textual History section because it's exclusive to Logos Max.

But Insights has two types of people primarily in mind:

    1. Less experienced users who haven't taken the time or have the understanding to create layouts that include all the resources they're interested in. This could be a teenager just setting out on their Bible study journey, but it could equally be a Hebrew professor who is not yet comfortable with technology and digital Bible study. Some very well-known Biblical scholars are experts in their knowledge and abilities, but not experts with their digital tools.
    2. Any user who happens not to be using a custom layout and who wants to quickly look up the most essential information. Even many experienced users dip in and out of layouts depending on their study needs at the time, and if you happen to be in a simple layout when you need to answer a text-critical question, then Insights could save you time.

Not sure if this relates to the beta-release, but I find lectionaries to open up really slow. They take about 15–18 seconds on my MacBook Air (M2 / 8G RAM) – about the same on my iMac (M4 / 32G RAM). As soon as one of them has opened the problem's solved, and consecutive lectionaries open up instantly. Even if they're different from the lectionary I started out with.

I use my lectionary a lot (through the dashboard, from a Personal Book) and I've never noticed it being this slow. The Personal Book is just as slow as the ones from the Logos-store, by the way.

I've sent in some logging to the appropriate Logos-e-mail address.
