Wordsearch perks and free 3 books still?

Logos clearly stated and still does as of 2/14/2025 in their question and answer section this:

"I’m a member of the Wordsearch Perks program. Will I continue to receive the benefits of that program?

Yes. We are continuing the Wordsearch Perks program…."

While it is understandable that it may change name one of the key benefits is that we get 3 free books a month. (Also, could see before the start of the new subscriptions telling us that we will no longer get the free books but not after we paid the $100 for the new year and only two month or 6 books into our 36 free books we were promised) Under the new book cache I do not see anything about the 3 books they promised to give us each month. This is not right since many of us just paid $100 to have this perk for another year because we thought we could rely on the words of Logos but now I am starting to wonder if they will not fulfill their promise to give us the 30 books left for the subscription. If one of the perks of book cache is still getting 3 free books why doesn't it say that? If it is not, then Logos renege on their promise and only after they got their $100. That is the only reason I was still part of the program.

Over and over again you say that Logos took your $100.00 for the promise of 3 "free" books per month for one year.

This is not accurate. The WordSearch Perks program did "cost" $100 per year, but the thing that you keep forgetting to mention is that you get that $100 back in the form of account credit that you can them spend on just about anything you wanted to then buy. You did not lose that money, it was still yours, still spendable.

The books really were free because that money was still available to you on your account as a credit.

This is (sans the free books part) exactly how the book cache works. A difference though is, unlike the WS Perks program, you can continue adding to your book cache balance as you see fit.

My question to you then is Why would/should Logos continue to give you (or me for that matter) more free books when they get absolutely nothing out of the deal? You still get to spend your $100 on any purchase you like.

This program was not like the FL Connect program where they (Faithlife) kept the money and part of what you got for the money were books.

With the WS-Perks program you got the books AND you got to spend the money (so truly free books).

Now, like you I kept the WS-Perks subscription going because of the books and the 10% off other purchases. Oh well, I really can't see them continuing the old perks program from a company that they bought out over three years ago now, when they get no monetary benefit from it.

I would like to see the benefits continue myself but I am not out any money (and neither are you) from them discontinuing the program.

By the way, the page you included a link to was meant for WordSearch to Logos users concerning services/perks they enjoyed from Lifeway. The WS-Perks program was never for sale to new subscribers after the WS acquisition.

Again, your apparent position, that Logos took your $100, and you now get nothing for it is not true. You still get to spend your money. Logos is just keeping it on account for you.

Please be more careful and don't misrepresent the actions of Logos as being something nefarious, because they are not.

I do believe you are saying what I wrote is misleading but what is misleading is promising 36 books and only giving us 6 for the year. The $100 is not the issue but I would not have stored $100 with them instead of in a bank with 4% interest. The only way they got the $100 from me is a promise of 36 books for this year.

I’ve been a LOGOS customer for 25 years, and in all that time, I have never encountered anything unethical from them.

Kelly Mann, have you reached out to LOGOS directly about your concern? Did you request a refund for your purchase? In my experience, any issue I’ve had was resolved promptly and fairly.

LOGOS is, without a doubt, the best company I’ve ever done business with—and in case you missed it, that’s 25 years and counting!

As for your “lost 4% interest,” I’d be happy to personally send you $0.33 per month (at a 4% APR, the total annual amount would be $4.00) for the next 12 months.

Hello Jim, Glad you had good dealings with them for 25 years, I have also had good dealing with them for many years. I hope that did not change with this possible renege of what they promised us. Time will tell, but the issue again is not money but the books. (The last commenter also focused on the money rather than the real issue-the books) There is a promise of getting 36 books for the year (3 a month x 12) however it appears we will only be giving 6 this year. Do you see something wrong with that? The money should not be the focus but telling us we will get 36 books for the year then pulling the carpet out under our feet. Hope that helps.

If the issue was solely about the books, there was no need to mention six times in your first two posts that you paid $100.00 or to add the supposed $4.00 loss in interest.

What I would like to know is:

Have you reached out to LOGOS directly about your concern?

Did you ask them why they changed the perks of this program?

Did you request a refund for your purchase?

Did ask them if they can honor their commitment?

What was their response?

The answers to these questions are important. It is very unfair to insinuate deliberate misrepresentation without full disclosure of all the details. I look forward to hearing the answers to these questions!

I don't think Kelly needs attacking simply because she didn't use the telephone vs the forum. Both are Faithlife vehicles for customer support. And Customer Service does have an iffy reputation for answers.

But judging from the provided links, March 1st 2025, Kelly gets to give Faithlife $100 per year ~~month~~, and then spend it. Whoopee. If the equation previously was $100 for 36 books, I can see the issue. But Faithlife does change subscriptions at will … they're careful with promises/reneging. I do wonder about the 'forever' in recent months … a new owner won't be so 'ethical' (whatever this is now days).

If the promise was for $100 credit to spend in Logos and 3 free books per month for the year, then that is what should be upheld. It does not matter that they get their $100 back. That is $100 that they may not have even spent in Logos, but because of the promise of the $100 to spend in Logos along with the promise of the free books is why many choose to renew their subscription to it.

I too was a subscriber, but decided not to renew because I didn't really care about the free books, but still a promise is a promise is a promise. In fact, it was more than a promise, it was a contract.

Isn't it $100 a year? But, yeah, the Whoopee part. Isn't Wordsearch Perks Is Becoming Book Cache the same as saying Wordsearch Perks has ended? Like, where are the perks?? Book Cache has no perks that I can see.

And why is it called a subscription? What are you subscribing to, for Logos to be your piggy bank and hold on to your money for a day when you want to spend it in the Logos store? I'm missing something, obviously 🤔

Jim Pecock, it is quite simple, Logos said with our membership we get 36 books. Because it appears this will not be honored, how is it fair to only get 6 books out of the 36 promised for the year? Hope that question is clearer for you than the title of this thread. Logos Promise: 36 books So far: 6 books and it appears that will be all, as the program is ending 2 months into the 12 month program. Is that fair? Is that ethical? Can I promise you, 36 books and only give you 6 out of the 30 and say well…that's fair, you should be happy since you got 6 books? Come on, the issue is not the amount of the membership be it $100 or $10 or $1 or free but honoring what is clearly stated in the yearly membership. We bought a membership, I hate to say the price again as that appears to be evidence, in your mind, that the issue is money instead of books, when it is not and has always been about books📚️📓📗. Please read the title again to see this is about not getting 3 books that Logos said members will get each month of this year for a total of 30 more books. Hopefully that helps make the issue clearer for you. I do not see a reason to continue discussing this with you until show you understand the issue. Please answer the question: Is it fair to promise you 36 books this year to change it to only giving you 6 instead of 36? If you say yes, then I don't see a reason to discuss this as your view of fair is not my view. If you say no, then that shows you understand the issue, but I still want Logos to clarify. Not really sure why you even commented when you never talked about the issue at all (do we still get books or not?) but instead wished to be Logos' savior or defender. I still do not know for a fact, as the title of this thread is a question to find out a clear answer which appears you have no clue the answer but still feel you should response.

I originally had Wordsearch Perks when it was migrated to Logos. I later canceled it (as well as FL Connect at the time) since my dad had passed away around that time, and I needed to scale back my expenses in general (I'm better off financially now). Here's an old post where I discussed Perks:

Book Cache has actually been around for a long time as well, but it's generally been used as a monthly, not annual service. I remember hearing about it years ago:

Perks was an annual subscription that gave a promise of 12 months of benefits. It seems it would have been more appropriate to continue the subscriptions until the expiration date but not allow renewals. At that point, any remaining balance could convert to Book Cache.

I turned off auto renew after the announcement since I have no interest in Book Cache.

If Logos cancelled the plan that was paid for, the customer should have received a refund. Really not a difficult Customer Service response…

If they took the payment and are holding it for future purchases, that the customer doesn't desire - that is wrong.

I'm with Kelly on this.

The Perks program had a $100 fee. The purchase sold us a $100 gift card and a choice of three books each month over the coming year, plus a discount on purchases.

It does seem that Logos should honor what they sold and end Perks at the end of each individual's year rather than just cutting us all off. Book Cache seems to be an offer to sell us a gift card with no benefits. Perks was a gift card AND benefits, which is why people bought it.

I’m just glad FL was generous enough to convert all my WS books into Logos format books. So many good books like Rod Mattoon’s books and others.

Kelly, I believe you may have missed the point. My questions were clearly stated, yet none were addressed. This suggests you have not spoken to Logos about your concern. I agree with you that they shouldn't operate that way. However, criticizing them without giving them a fair chance to resolve the issue is not ethical either! The time spent complaining and debating this could have been better used by reaching out to Logos for a resolution. I encourage you to consider the following: “If your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault, between you and him alone. If he listens to you, you have gained your brother. But if he does not listen, take one or two others along with you, that every charge may be established by the evidence of two or three witnesses" (Matthew 18:15-16).

I'm also with Kelly. In good faith we prepaid Logos $100 (I always ended up spending more) in return for three free books each month and a 10% discount for 1 year (12 months). In cancelling the program the way that Logos has done, they have not held up their side of the agreement. We gave them $100, committing to purchase Logos products, but they reneged on their agreement. (It's not like those three free books are just any books … they must be chosen from a limited selection). Can they cancel the program — sure. Should they hold up their side of the program thru the end of our year's subscription — absolutely. I have contacted Logos — twice. The first time I asked what the benefit of the Book Cache program was and this was Logos' response —

"The Book Caché subscription allows you to make automatic payments and stockpile Logos credit so that when your favorite titles hit Pre-Pub or go on sale, you’ll be ready."

My credit card does the same without giving Logos an interest-free loan and commitment to purchase Logos products.

I then replied as follows with as yet no response back from Logos —

"When I renewed it was with the understanding that I got three free books each month for one year — you are reneging on a commitment to carry out your end of the agreement. Under this change you get a commitment for me to spend at least $100 each year and I get NOTHING in return. If you want to change the program that’s your prerogative but you should at least fulfill your end of the commitment thru the entire year. You’ve basically broken a promise … not very Biblical"

I repeat — Logos should hold up their end of this agreement and fulfill their commitment through the end of our year's subscription. It's the honorable thing to do.

I continued the perks program with Logos when they took over from Wordsearch. However I never got any free books because every time I looked I could not find a free book. I couldn't find out what I was doing wrong although I continued to pay the $100.00 pa.

I will continue to pay as I have used this against purchases of other items. I suspect I will continue this as it appears one needs a subscription to benefit from book cache and at this point I do not see the value. I do not understand the information that has been provided. The program is becoming too complicated and expensive in my humble view.

The WordSearch perks program has ended, you won't be charged for it anymore if that is the program you were on.

As for the free books, when you click on the page that has the small selection, if you do not see a book in there you want or that you do not already own, you could click on the link that says search all books which brought you to a page with all the books that were available under that program.

If you are still a subscriber, click on the link that Taylor added to his post and use the code he gave and get your free books.

The WordSearch perks program has ended, you won't be charged for it anymore if that is the program you were on.

To be clear: the Wordsearch Perks program ends Feb 28, but you'll be transitioned to Book Cache. You will continue to have a $100/year subscription that adds $100 in credit to your Logos account. You can spend the credit however you want. Your renewal date will not change. Hypothetically, if your subscription to Wordsearch Perks would renew on May 25, your new Book Cache subscription will renew on May 25 for $100. If you no longer want to subscribe, simply turn off auto-renew by going to logos.com/account/subscriptions > manage subscription > uncheck "turn off auto-renew" any time before your renewal date.
