Logos Stuck Syncing on Mac M1 Pro

When I try to close Logos on my Mac M1 Pro, the sync window appears, stating that Logos will close once my documents and settings are uploaded—but it never finishes. If I click "Close Now," will I lose all my work from the past few days, including my meticulously taken notes? That shouldn't happen.
Is there a way to stop the syncing process and reopen the application so I can at least copy and paste my work before it's lost? I need urgent assistance. Thank you.

I have a Mac Pro M1 and I just experienced getting stuck on sync hanging on exit too.

I forgot to mention in my case I don’t think I lost any work. I think Logos is local first, with syncing in the cloud.

OK, so you just closed and everything was still there when you reopened Logos? I did that the other day and all the notes I had made since I last closed were gone.... so I am extra careful now...

In the past, I never had any issues with the syncing process after quitting the app. It usually took between one and two minutes, but it always worked fine. However, for the past two weeks, it has been getting stuck every time…

I can’t say this with authority in your case, but in mine I did not lose my day’s work. I don’t know what to advise you as insurance or a workaround. I have not seen Logos get stuck syncing in years.

thank you! then I guess I have to try again and hope nothing will be lost…

Okay, so I clicked on 'Close now,' and then Logos became unresponsive, forcing me to execute a 'Force Quit.'

It’s been a rough start for some with v.40. I am sure @Mark Barnes (Logos) and @Bradley Grainger (Logos) will catch up on all this on Monday.

Thank you so much, Donovan! Your advice was truly wonderful and incredibly prompt—I couldn't have asked for better. As you mentioned, everything was saved locally—praise the Lord! 😊 I’m not sure why my work wasn’t saved locally last time, but I’m so grateful it did now. Thanks again!

Is there a way to disable automatic updates or at least receive them only after they’ve been thoroughly tested? I don’t mind running an older version (even as a subscriber) if it means avoiding issues like this in the future. The possibility of losing days of work was truly shocking.

Tools>program settings>automatically download updates = no
When you’re ready to update, type Update Now in the Command Box and press Enter.

I had a similar issue over the weekend. Also M1 Silicon. Latest OS.
I assumed it was my dodgy internet; Maybe not?
Working fine now. Good job Logos mechanics!0 -
This happened to me last week, except instead of notes I was using Canvas. I spent hours creating a presentation and synching failed causing everything to be reverted back to when it last synched. I’m extra careful as well. This week it is running ok though.

I am having the same issue repeatedly on Windows, with v40.1. I have two pcs, and it happens on both. After using Logos for a while, when I tried to close out, it shows the synchronizing window indefinitely. In my case, if I press "exit now," it does seem to exit, but Logos is actually still running in the background. So when I try to start Logos back up, nothing happens until I use task manager to exit all logos.exe tasks. Then it fires up fine.
Thankfully, it seems like none of my work has been lost so far, and I believe it does synchronize once I fully restart the process. It's worth noting that my computers are not constantly connected to wifi (I share data from my phone for wifi), so that may affect the synchronization problem.
