It was a bit disturbing to see that a purchase of resources "threatened" to start a subscription which I already have. I had started from a wishlist so it clearly knew who I was.

I am seeing the same thing and have opted to not proceed till issue is corrected or situation is clarified. The purchase can wait.
Yes, I did after spending some time analyzing the situation. I came to the conclusion that it (a) had the correct account and (b) was not charging more than expected so I went through with the transaction.
Same experience. I did not finalize the transaction. Logos, your checkout process should not be confusing. Please fix it.
I'm already a subscriber and seeing this also - it's definitely a bug. It doesn't change the checkout process, but is confusing, so hopefully they fix it soon.
